RAAD Studio’s Centre Street Loft Redesign with Stunning Wooden Dome Is…Arresting

Perhaps one of the most beautiful buildings in New York City, the Beaux-Arts style former police headquarters located at 240 Centre Street sometimes seems to have flown under the “great buildings in Manhattan” radar for much of its 100-plus years. But we’re pretty sure those lucky enough to reside in one of the 55 luxury apartments created when the building was converted to condominiums in the late 1980s have a true appreciation for the grandeur of this hidden gem. RAAD Studio recently redesigned one of those apartments, and there’s no way this transformation could go unnoticed.

Tour the Chefs Club Restaurant by ‘Food & Wine’ Magazine at the Landmark Puck Building

There's been plenty of talk about the luxurious penthouses that top off the historic Puck Building. But just below these spectacular homes is an equally stunning space that's sure to take your breath away—or at least get your stomach rumbling. Archdaily brings us on a tour of the Chefs Club, a brand new dining experience dreamt up by the folks over at Food & Wine magazine. The sleek eatery opened just last fall to rave reviews, and it's no surprise; the Chefs Club by Food & Wine is exactly what you'd hope it is: the magazine's "Best New Chefs" and an international roster of rockstar cooks whipping up meals unlike any you've had before.

Tyra Banks Lists Nolita Condo for $3.8M

Fashion-forward supermodel Tyra Banks has listed her surprisingly unfashionable Nolita condo for $3.8 million, according to the Daily News. She bought the two-bedroom pad back in 2005 for $2.1 million. The historic Cass Gilbert-designed Beaux Arts building known as the Spring is located at 225 Lafayette Street and has quite the celebrity following. Actress Dakota Fanning currently resides there, and John Mayer sold his unit there for close to $4 million in 2013. We're guessing it wasn't the limelight that persuaded Banks to list, though.

Two Puck Building Penthouses List for a Combined $57M

It was pretty big news back in June when Penthouse IV at the landmarked Puck Building sold for $28 million, netting real estate tycoon Jared Kushner a pretty penny. It was the second largest out of the six units in the penthouse-only building. As we reported then, there were four others that were yet to be listed, and they were expected to sell for between $21 and $60 million. Well, it looks like we weren't too far off the mark, as two additional penthouses at 295 Lafayette Street have now listed for a combined $57 million. PHII, is a three-bedroom, five-bathroom home, with 5,222 square feet of interior space and 800 square feet of outdoor space, listed for $35.1 million; and PHVI, the smallest of the "limited edition" penthouses at 4,895 square feet, is on the market for $22 million (it originally went up for sale in January for $21 million).

This Roman and Williams-Designed Nolita Apartment on the Market for $2M is Bellisimo

From the Boom Boom Room to the Standard and Ace Hotels, acclaimed husband and wife team Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch — aka, Roman and Williams Buildings and Interiors — infuse plenty of personality into everything they do. And their first ground-up residential project, a seven-story condominium building in the heart of Nolita at 211 Elizabeth Street, was no exception. Not only did the duo bring their signature character to the building’s actual construction, which garnered the firm a Palladio Award in 2010, they piloted the interior design as well, including every detail of this one-bedroom unit currently on the market for $2 million.

Renovated Loft at Landmarked 53 Crosby Street Returns for Rent

A loft at the landmarked 53 Crosby Street is back on the market after being listed for $3.35 million just a month ago. However, this time the two-bedroom co-op is available for rent, asking $10,500 per month. The unfurnished space reminds us of a dance studio, with its oversized windows, hardwood floors and interesting choice of mirrored walls in the entertaining space. So, we had to take a look inside. What we found is a nicely renovated, modern loft that has everything you would want out of Soho living… including its location on one of the neighborhood’s most coveted cobblestone streets.

Archdiocese of New York Sells off St. Patrick’s School in Little Italy for $32M, Makes Way for Condos

On Christmas Eve 2013, the cash-strapped Archdiocese of New York put St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral School on the market for $29 million. Now it looks like Time Equities has purchased the Little Italy property, throwing down $32 million, according to city records filed today (233 Mott and 32 Prince). Plans to turn the school into condos have been in the works since October 2013, when it was reported that the building was in the process of being sold off to Hamlin Ventures, with re-vamps provided by Marvel Architects. Though records show Time as the buyer, the two developers are joining forces to turn the sprawling 14,925-square-foot former orphanage/convent/school into two single-family homes and eight luxury condos.

“Limited Edition” Penthouse in the Ultra Posh Puck Building Closes for $28 Million

And it's official: After going into contract December of last year, Penthouse IV in the illustrious Puck Penthouses at 295 Lafayette has closed for $28 million, according to city records filed yesterday afternoon. The penthouse is the second largest in the penthouse-only building (there are six overall), with more than 5,900 square feet of space, 3BR/5.5BA, and a whopping 2,000 square feet of terraces overlooking a garden. Four of the Puck's five other penthouses have yet to be listed, but they are anticipated to sell for between $21 million and $60 million. Moby Sells Off His ‘Tiny’ But Charming Mott Street Penthouse for a Cool $2 Million

Electronic music maker Moby has just sold off his "tiny" penthouse at 262 Mott Street in Nolita. Moby bought the home for a mere $215,750 back in 1996 and managed to make quite a bit of money with the recent sale, turning a profit of about $1.5 million after taxes (we guess the artist is now eating crow). The 950-square-foot, 1BR/1BA home is covered with large vaulted skylights and also boasts exposed brick walls, a sleeper mezzanine loft and a private 875-square-foot garden terrace. The listing was held by Corcoran's Julie Pham.

Massive Soho Loft With Wraparound Terrace Sells for $14.5 Million

When you look at these New York buildings, it’s hard to imagine there’s space for a 7,000-square-foot loft inside. Well, the former home of Justin and Nicole Ehrlich is one of those spaces. 20 Greene Street #6A is definitely deserving of an Academy award with its dramatic tall ceilings and oversized windows. And it just sold to the tune of $14.5 million. This Soho loft, listed by Douglas Elliman, doesn’t do anything halfway. Its giant living room is large enough to be its own apartment, for starters.

Loft in Former Celeb Haven at 30 Crosby Street Finds a Buyer for $7.8 Million

Alicia Keys hired a crane when she moved out; Lenny Kravitz reportedly liked to show off his abs to his neighbors; Courtney Love allegedly had a little too much fun in the lobby — this is just some of the gossip from the former rich-and-famous tenants of 30 Crosby Street. In recent years, though, the residents have shifted from A-list celebrities to "everyday millionaires", and instead of Grammy-winning singers and hard-partying actresses, the Nolita building is now home to rich guys like the recent buyer of unit 3B, Justin Leverenz, Director of Emerging Market Equities at Oppenheimer, who purchased the apartment for $7.8 million, according to city records filed yesterday afternoon. The seller was music industry executive Daniel Pelson who paid $2.55 million for the home in 2001. Mr. Pelson listed the property through Town Residential’s Tinnie Sassano. What Mr. Leverenz acquired is a 4,164-square-foot, 3BR/3BA loft full of original historic details, including 19th century rough-hewn wooden columns, pinewood flooring, and exposed brick walls, mixed with contemporary additions like an Italian limestone wood-burning fireplace and a sleek, retro kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances and slab marble countertops.
