Beloved Japanese brand Muji just launched its first-ever food market in the United States at Chelsea Market. The Muji Food Market, which opened on Monday, features Japanese-style sandwiches, specialty beverages, and an AI-powered coffee-making robot, all complementing the store’s signature decor, beauty, apparel, and other popular products.

Building on the success of Muji Market, which opened in the fall, Muji Food Market offers cozy seating around a bar counter, providing patrons with the opportunity to enjoy authentic Japanese culinary flavors.

The food market caters to both customers looking for grab-and-go items and those seeking a sit-down meal. Menu highlights include Onigiri (rice balls) filled with spicy tuna, tuna mayo, salmon, Karaage, kombu, and ume, as well as Japanese curry cups and miso soup.

The drink menu features specialties such as Hojicha Latte, Black Sesame Latte, Honey Yuzu Tea, and Traditional Japanese Leaf Teas, alongside Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino, Flat White, and Americano coffee.

For dessert, guests can enjoy Dorayaki (sweet red bean paste with mascarpone cheese sandwiched by Japanese-style pancakes), Dango on Sticks, Matcha Muffin, Hojicha Pudding, and Matcha Panna Cotta.

The market also features Jarvis, the “Artly Barista Bot”—an AI-powered coffee-making robot designed to deliver consistent, high-quality coffee. Capable of crafting beverages on par with a professional barista, Jarvis offers high efficiency for modern coffee shops.

“We are excited to bring these new and exciting concepts to Chelsea Market, which are natural extensions of Muji’s mission to create simple, functional, and inviting spaces,” Richard Rappaport, president of Muji, North America, said.

“As a dynamic hub for creativity and connection, Chelsea Market is the perfect setting for visitors to enjoy our curated shopping experience, savor authentic Japanese cuisine, and connect with the community.”

Designed to deliver on Chelsea Market’s mission of creating an environment for people to gather and connect, Muji Food Market offers a wide selection of the brand’s signature products. These include the newly launched Muji Labo collection, as well as stationery, home goods, beauty products, décor, Japanese snacks, and more.

This location will also house various conceptual collections, and community activations, and will support local initiatives to build a hub of inspiration and community.

Muji Market is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Muji Food Market is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
