Beyonce Spotted Checking Out This $21.5 Million Chelsea Penthouse with Giant Apartment-Sized Closet

According to the New York Daily News, Beyonce was spotted apartment hunting this week, without hubby Jay Z, for what some are speculating could be her new bachelorette pad. The luxurious home that seems to have caught Bey's eye is this incredible 4,054-square-foot square penthouse located at 520 West 19th Street, which comes with not only a 20-foot dining room and libraries, but a stunning 642-square-foot private terrace that runs the full length of the apartment and looks out to a dazzling array of city sights—a birds-eye view of the Empire State Building among them.

Live in Billy Joel’s Hamptons Home for Just $250K?

How would you like to live in the Piano Man’s Hamptons home? Well, for all you Billy Joel fans, your moment in the sun has come, because for just $250,000 you can have his Hamptons home for all of… the month of August. It appears that after experiencing a somewhat turbulent journey with this home—the house has been on and off the market several times since 2009—Joel and his pad are parting ways yet again, and this time he’s spiced up his offer a bit. Not only has the price dropped from an astronomical $23.5 million to a slightly less astronomical $19.95 million, but the singer/songwriter has apparently opened his eyes to the possibility of renting… however pricey. Baby steps. We’ve all seen this phenomenon when a seller has such a personal attachment to a home that they can’t seem to price it reasonably? Is this one of those instances? Or is the Sagaponack home worth the cost? You be the judge.

Oasis Singer Liam Gallagher Puts His Essex House Condo on the Market

If his home is any indication, we’re guessing Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher loves animal prints as much as he loves Great Britain. According to the NY Post, the singer and his brother Noel have just put their Essex House condo up for sale for $4 million with Douglas Elliman agents Oren and Tal Alexander.

What Are the World’s Top Soccer Players’ Salaries Worth in NYC Real Estate?

It's no secret that pro athletes make big bucks, but the world's best soccer players are raking in Benjamins that would even make an NBA star blush. With top players like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo pulling in up to $75 million, we can't help but wonder what they're doing with all that money. While yachts and Italian villas are fine buys, our suggestion to these star athletes is to pour it in some swanky New York property. (The Marquand or the Puck Penthouses, perhaps?) If these soccer superstars ever decide to buy in New York, we've got each of their best bets ahead.

Kimora Lee Simmons Buys a Phat Apartment at the Marquand

Well, it only makes sense for the creator of Baby Phat to live in a phat crib. Investment banker Tim Leissner, otherwise known as Mr. Kimora Lee Simmons, just dropped $19 million on an 8th floor apartment at The Marquand, according to the NY Post. The 5BR/5.5BA unit has its own private elevator landing and wood burning fireplaces, and while we’re not sure what other features the actual apartment boasts, other apartments in the building have bay windows, a chef’s kitchen, and a media niche with a concealed A/V closet.

If at First You Don’t Succeed… Anne Hathaway Sells DUMBO Clocktower Loft the Second Time Around

After re-listing her DUMBO digs for the second time in early June, Anne Hathaway has found a buyer for her Clocktower loft, last priced at $4.25 million. Hathaway snagged the 2BR/3.5BA unit at 1 Main Street with then-fiancé Adam Shulman in February 2013 for $4.1 million, but reportedly never moved in, instead using the 2,592-square-foot apartment as an extremely oversized closet. The unit first hit the market in September 2013, but was removed shortly thereafter in December. The buyer hasn't yet been identified, but he or she will certainly not be disappointed with the giant master suite, library and media room, corner layout, and spectacular views of the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and Manhattan skyline.

Law & Order Star Sells Noho Loft for $3.25 Million

According to city records, Law & Order; SVU star B.D Wong has officially sold his East 4th Street apartment for asking, after being in contract since March. The ground floor loft has a below-ground bedroom and a colorful palette that reminds us of something a stylish interior designer would create for the Joker’s bachelor pad, assuming the Joker wants to pick up chicks. But we digress…

Simon Cowell Drops $11 Million on Lenox Hill Pad for His New Family

After months of house hunting, Simon Cowell has found a home for his new family. According to the NY Post, the TV mogul just put down $10.85 million on a nest at 151 East 78th Street for his girlfriend Lauren Silverman and their love child. The family will now call the Peter Pennoyer-designed condominium home; and while the Post isn’t entirely sure which unit the TV mogul purchased for his best friend’s ex-wife (no judgment here), they’re guessing it was the three-bedroom penthouse.

Deepak Chopra Finally Unloads Park Imperial Pad for $3.5 Million

Deepak Chopra has finally been able to free himself of the mediocre, non-wellness oriented piece of real estate he once called home. After spending $14.5 million on a Greenwich Village apartment built for a hypochondriac – the space has antimicrobial coating on high-touch surfaces and EMF shielding to protect residents from electromagnetic fields – he has finally managed to get rid of the germ-soaked two-bedroom unit his lesser-evolved self once appreciated.

Orlando Bloom Purchases Tribeca Loft for $4.88 Million

Orlando Bloom just got a lot closer to Taylor Swift, and she didn’t even have to write a break-up song about him. The Lord of the Rings star has just purchased a $4.88 million three-bedroom loft at 155 Franklin Street, in the building formerly known as the Sugarloaf Warehouse. (We figure that sentence would make Prince proud.) We’re guessing this building has a certain appeal to hobbit acquaintances as the penthouse, now home to Swift, was formerly home to director Peter Jackson. So, it’s the hobbit gift that keeps on giving. According to the New York Post, the star was drawn to the loft’s “cast-iron columns, exposed brick walls, open chef’s kitchen and wood-beamed ceilings”. We would be too.

Helen Hunt Finally Sells Upper West Side Pied-a-Terre for $2.58 Million

It looks like Helen Hunt has finally sold her Upper West Side apartment to the tune of $2.58 million. This new development comes after having the apartment on the market for nearly 9 months. That’s essentially like having a baby. Hunt purchased the apartment at 320 West 86th Street for $2.43 million in 2006, according to the Daily News, and was using the 3/BR as a pied-a-terre. Her main residence is in California. After acquiring the co-op, Hunt completely renovated the pad, creating a six-room layout with restored herringbone floors, hideaway office spaces and decorative fireplaces.

Anne Hathaway Puts DUMBO Clocktower Loft Back on the Market for $4.25 Million

It looks like Anne Hathaway is ready to try selling her DUMBO loft again. We’re not sure why the star would want to part with her gorgeous 2BR/3.5BA unit at 1 Main Street, the site of DUMBO’s Clocktower building. She just purchased the building in February of 2013 and after apparently not even moving in, she was ready to unload the loft by September. According to records, she took the loft off the market in December. But if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. 6 months after removing the listing from the market, Ms. Hathaway has put 1 Main Street #9B back on the market, this time with Town Residential listing agents Steven Gold and Chris Whelan.

Moby Sells Off His ‘Tiny’ But Charming Mott Street Penthouse for a Cool $2 Million

Electronic music maker Moby has just sold off his "tiny" penthouse at 262 Mott Street in Nolita. Moby bought the home for a mere $215,750 back in 1996 and managed to make quite a bit of money with the recent sale, turning a profit of about $1.5 million after taxes (we guess the artist is now eating crow). The 950-square-foot, 1BR/1BA home is covered with large vaulted skylights and also boasts exposed brick walls, a sleeper mezzanine loft and a private 875-square-foot garden terrace. The listing was held by Corcoran's Julie Pham.

Jonathan Adler’s Chic Shelter Island House is Up for Rent This Summer

What happens when two of New York City's most creative minds — interior designer Jonathan Adler and fashion guru Simon Doonan — deck out a summer home? You get a colorful Shelter Island beach house that screams seaside chic. The couple's busy schedules take them all around the world, which is good news for New Yorkers still looking for a Hamptons rental — the playful pad is available for the month of July. Situated in a secluded area on Crab Creek, the airy 1,300-square-foot beach house is far more stylish than your average summer rental and probably a lot pricier, too — it's currently listed for $11,000 a month.

Former Bush Appointee Buys in Cobble Hill for $1.7 Million

Don't tell the crunchy neighbors in baby-laden Cobble Hill, but there's a Republican moving into the neighborhood. According to public records filed yesterday evening, Reuben Jeffery III, the former Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs, appointed by George W. Bush, and his wife Robin have purchased a unit in a pre-war co-op at 174 Pacific Street. Records also listed their daughter, Jocelyn — for whom we can only assume the purchase is made (Mamma and Papa Reuben bought a full-floor pad just last year at 620 Park Avenue for $9.16 million). The 2BR/2BA apartment, which is conveniently located near Trader Joe's, was purchased for $1.7 million through a listing held by Brown Harris Stevens.

Annie Liebovitz Purchases Central Park Pad Next Door to Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro just got a new neighbor, and it’s esteemed photographer Annie Liebovitz. Liebovitz nabbed the Brentmore co-op for $11.25 million, a bit lower than the $14.5 million asking price from a year and a half ago. However, the celebrity photographer will be gaining more than an A-list neighbor. After a long day of work she’ll have a gorgeous 3BR/3.5 bath duplex to return to. The apartment has its own appreciation for the picturesque, with large windows framing Central Park and delivering front row views to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Loft in Former Celeb Haven at 30 Crosby Street Finds a Buyer for $7.8 Million

Alicia Keys hired a crane when she moved out; Lenny Kravitz reportedly liked to show off his abs to his neighbors; Courtney Love allegedly had a little too much fun in the lobby — this is just some of the gossip from the former rich-and-famous tenants of 30 Crosby Street. In recent years, though, the residents have shifted from A-list celebrities to "everyday millionaires", and instead of Grammy-winning singers and hard-partying actresses, the Nolita building is now home to rich guys like the recent buyer of unit 3B, Justin Leverenz, Director of Emerging Market Equities at Oppenheimer, who purchased the apartment for $7.8 million, according to city records filed yesterday afternoon. The seller was music industry executive Daniel Pelson who paid $2.55 million for the home in 2001. Mr. Pelson listed the property through Town Residential’s Tinnie Sassano. What Mr. Leverenz acquired is a 4,164-square-foot, 3BR/3BA loft full of original historic details, including 19th century rough-hewn wooden columns, pinewood flooring, and exposed brick walls, mixed with contemporary additions like an Italian limestone wood-burning fireplace and a sleek, retro kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances and slab marble countertops.

Diane von Furstenberg’s Penthouse Sparkles Above Her Meatpacking HQ

The headquarters of the "Queen of the Wrap Dress" (ladies, you know what I'm talking about if you've ever stood in line for one of these sample sales!) is well known for the big, geometric glass structure that sits perched atop the traditional Meatpacking District building. Not so well known, though, is that inside this rooftop crystal is Ms. von Furstenberg's penthouse apartment.  And just as you'd expect, the space is full of all of the sleek, yet glamorous style that the designer expresses in her clothing. Conceptualized by Work Architecture, the Diane von Furstenberg headquarters was adapted from this landmarked meat market building to house the firm's flagship store, administrative offices, and production space. The re-imagined rooftop is not only an apartment, but a garden oasis. The staircase, dubbed the "stairdelier" by the architects since it is lined with Swarovski crystals, ties the live/work space together and is its crowning jewel. Descending diagonally through the building's six stories, it reflects light throughout the entire interior.

A Look Inside Demi Moore’s Much Talked About San Remo Triplex

Demi Moore made news this week when word got out that she would be putting her San Remo triplex up for sale for a whopping $75 million. While no listing or photos of the 7,000-square-foot 145 Central Park West space have surfaced (apparently Moore is quietly showing it), one of 6sqft's reporters did some sleuthing and found these old black and whites from the Museum of the City of New York which pretty much meet the specs: of the two triplexes in San Remo today, one was made combining the only two-story unit in the building and the mechanical space above it. Moore and then hubby Bruce combined a two-story unit with the space above it... Though we're sure the decor has changed since the Spring of 1937 when it was occupied by Theodore C. Wiehe, with a little bit of imagination we bet you can fill in the gaps. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this blast from the past. And if you've got some money to spend, make Ms. Moore an offer. You'll also be granted the record of "the person to have spent the most money on a co-op ever". A win?

Lena Dunham’s Parents Sell Their Tribeca Loft for $6.25 Million

Carroll Dunham and Laurie Simmons, the parents of prodigious millennial Lena Dunham, have sold their Tribeca loft at 16 Desbrosses St, #4S for $6.25 million. The 3,600-square-foot location for the award winning film, Tiny Furniture, was once a textile warehouse. In recent years, the bright, airy space, perfectly suited for artistic inspiration, was re-designed by architect David Bers who was also responsible for designing the couple’s other residence in Cornwall, CT. They also collaborated with interior designer Nick Dine, son of pop artist Jim Dine, and the result was an open, spacious live/work design prepared to accommodate any sudden bursts of inspiration.

Director Ken Burns Scoops Up a Condo in Richard Meier’s Prospect Heights Tower

It looks like documentary filmmaker Ken Burns is moving his family into Pritzker Prize winning architect Richard Meier’s On Prospect Park. The Burns family dropped $2.75 million on the home, which is located in one of Brooklyn's most beautiful (and active) corners — just steps away from Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and the incredible Brooklyn Museum and Public Library. It's reported that the Mamma and Papa Burns spend most their time in New Hampshire, so it's likely that the 2,107-square-foot, 3BR/2.5BA modern abode will become the love nest of his daughter Lily (who was also listed on city records) and her fiance Tony Hernandez, both of whom are producers.

Fashion Designer Derek Lam’s Soho Loft Sells for $5.25 Million

After a long stint on the market, designer Derek Lam and his partner Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann are officially parting ways with their Soho loft. The pair put the two-story, 2,117 square-foot space on the market for $6 million last year, and they came in just a little short of their ask. The loft comes complete with a second story devoted entirely to the master suite, huge windows, and translucent panels that allow the home's inhabitants to reconfigure the kitchen and living room spaces as need be. They purchased the 3 BR/3 BA Mercer Greene apartment back in 2011 for $4.65 million. Another fun fact: Rihanna also once lived in the building.
