149 Huron Street, greenpoint, condo

149 Huron Street, a 30-unit Greenpoint condo building, was constructed in 2007 and is dominated by big windows and balconies on its facade. There is one unit up for sale in the building, a duplex, and it’s asking $1.2 million. Over 985 square feet and two floors you’ll find a big, towering window, lots of open space, a flexible floorplan and modern finishes.

This is one of the priciest apartments in the entire building, and the history of its price tag says a lot about how much Greenpoint has changed since 2007. The unit sold in 2009 for $560,037 and then was listed in 2012 for $629,000. It looks like it never sold back then, but now it’s trying its luck past the $1 million mark.

So we’re guessing there are several kinds of people this rental listing will appeal to. First, if you’ve been planning to film your pilot episode of “Hipster Hoarders,” your search is over. Lovers of real industrial loftslog cabins, treehouses, birdhouses, she sheds, cowboy camping, glamping opods in your living room: This one will go fast!

In all seriousness, this 1,400 square foot three-bedroom (or whatever room you need!) loft that’s renting for $4,600 a month might not be a bargain, but it’s a decent amount of lovely Greenpoint space. And if you’re into lofts (and assuming this is actually a legal dwelling. Or a semi-legal dwelling with good karma), the possibilities are endless. This lovely loft is in a terrific neighborhood, near the waterfront and surrounded by cafes, quirky boutiques, bars both chic and chill, the ferry, the G train, picturesque streetscapes and lots of friendly neighbors in their super-cool cowboy-treehouse lofts. We’re hoping the current tenants have found a new dream home, because clearly this listing is an invitation to Live the Dream.

190 West Street #8 Living Room

When you hear about a Greenpoint apartment for sale, “loft” might not be what first pops into your head.  But apartment 8 at 190 West Street, currently listed for $1.825 million through CORE, will make you a believer in Brooklyn loft living.

The 1,364-square-foot, one-bedroom apartment has all of the loft-like charms you’d hope for–steel support columns, nine-inch oak plank flooring, and exposed wood ceiling beams, duct work, and pipes.  It also feels twice its size thanks to 16-foot ceilings, 40 feet of street-facing frontage, eight-foot-high windows, a large skylight, and an open layout that can easily accommodate a two-bedroom conversion.

Don’t miss the rest of this Brooklyn beauty
