A lottery launched on Friday for placement on a 200-name waitlist for apartments at a new rental building in Greenpoint. Located at 197 Freeman Street, the building features amenities including on-site laundry, fitness center, bike storage, indoor garage, and a landscaped roof deck with sweet views of Manhattan. New Yorkers earning 130 percent of the area median income can apply. Apartments range from $2,100/month studios to $3,219/month two-bedrooms. Built in 2017, 197 Freeman Street contains just 20 units. The rental sits between busy McGuinness Boulevard and the Pulaski Bridge and Manhattan Avenue, where many restaurants, cafes, and bars can be found. The Brooklyn waterfront and WNYC Transmitter Park is also just a few blocks away, providing some of the best views of the Manhattan skyline. The nearest transit options include the G train at Manhattan Avenue and the NYC Ferry.

The building was designed by StudiosC Architecture, who said they aimed to “balance real scale and striking interiors together.”
Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for 197 Freeman Street’s waitlist until July 14, 2020. Complete details on how to apply are available here (pdf). Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
