After a top-to-toe renovation of their 1870s Clinton Hill two-family townhouse that spanned two years (read all about it here), 6sqft writer Michelle Cohen and her husband, Stanley Peck, decided to relegate sprucing up their brownstone backyard to “phase 2.” They’d already added a rear terrace with steps to the yard and created a small roof deck above their lower extension. The couple certainly planned to address the neglected outdoor space–even though the existing weed-jungle-meets-mud-patch had a certain overgrown charm. Bed-Stuy’s historic Jacob Dangler House has been demolished

The Jacob Dangler House, the historic French Gothic mansion that has sat on the corner of Willoughby and Nostrand Avenues in Bed-Stuy for 120 years, was demolished last week. Despite a campaign led by local residents and public officials to landmark the building, the city's Department of Buildings issued a permit for a full demolition on Tuesday, according to Brownstoner. The developer plans to build apartments on the site, as 6sqft previously reported.

Located in the neighborhood of Todt Hill, the English Tudor-style mansion was featured in the movie's opening wedding scene. Bed-Stuy residents urge city to landmark 120-year-old mansion facing demolition

Bed-Stuy residents and public officials are urging the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) to designate a historic mansion as a city landmark to save it from demolition. Known as the Jacob Dangler House, the property, located at 441 Willoughby Avenue, was built at the turn of the 20th century and features a striking French Gothic architectural style. After a developer filed demolition permits, the LPC added the property to its agenda last minute and voted last month to calendar the property, temporarily protecting the mansion. During a hearing on Tuesday, a majority of public testimony was in favor of designation.

If you've strolled past it, you may have noticed the classic lines of the modernist home tucked among the brick apartment buildings and historic brownstones in Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood. The remarkable house at 77 Prospect Place, given its current form by architect Phillipe Baumann in 2004, was once a single-story carriage house, built in 1886. Baumann's renovations included a new upper floor, a 30-foot skylight, and a dazzling great room that opens onto an outdoor patio with a hot tub; custom architectural interiors incorporate warm wood, glass, steel, and plaster. The stunning home last changed hands in 2017 for $6.6 million; it's now back on the market for $7.9 million.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka found a buyer this month for their five-story Harlem townhouse, which first hit the market last August for $7,325,000. As first reported by the New York Post, the home at 2036 Fifth Avenue is in contract for more than $7,100,000, likely setting a new record for a townhouse sale in the Upper Manhattan neighborhood.
