One of Manhattan's grandest lobbies is officially a New York City landmark. The Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate the ornate, T-shaped first-floor lobby of 200 Madison Avenue on Tuesday. Designed by Warren & Wetmore in 1925--the firm behind Grand Central Terminal--the Murray Hill lobby features a 200-foot-long through-block arcade that boasts a beautiful vaulted ceiling, polished marble walls, and other stunning elements reflective of the era.

Actor Penn Badgley has moved to Park Slope. The architect who has worked on New York City icons like the Statue of Liberty, the Carlyle Hotel, the Woolworth Building, and 220 Central Park South is selling his Tribeca home. Thierry Despont, a French-born designer who specializes in high-end designs and renovations for residential buildings and hotels around the world, listed his luxe five-floor townhouse at 182 Franklin Street for $24,999,999. Famed London steakhouse Hawksmoor opens in Gramercy’s historic United Charities Building

"Our job was easy – restore the building to its former glory and use reclaimed building materials and antique lighting to create a restaurant and bar that feel like they really belong in the space," says Huw Gott, co-owner of the NYC outpost of London's popular steakhouse Hawksmoor, referring to its location in Gramercy's historic United Charities Building. The restaurant is located in the landmarked building's grand Assembly Hall, under the original 30-foot vaulted ceiling. Condo sales relaunch at 200 Amsterdam after court delays

Sales have resumed at 200 Amsterdam Avenue, the 52-story Upper West Side tower that has faced a series of legal challenges since 2017. Developed in partnership by SJP Properties and Mitsui Fudosan, the building is 668 feet tall, the tallest in the neighborhood. The tower nearly lost that superlative after a judge in February 2020 ruled that as many as 20 floors may have to be chopped from the building for violating zoning rules. But last month, the New York State Appellate Court reversed that decision and declared the developer's permit valid.
