IKEA’s 2019 catalog comes to life at this free pop-up event in Soho

“Haven in the city”

To mark 75 years of sleek, affordable design, IKEA is hosting a free pop-up event for just five days in Soho. Starting on Wednesday, design nerds and interior newbies alike will enjoy walking through different homes and get inspired by the various products and furniture, many which can be found in the company’s 2019 catalog (officially released on Tuesday). Dubbed the IKEA Inspiration Experience, the event, located at 477 Broadway, runs between August 1 and August 5.

The event takes guests through model rooms filled with IKEA products for a specific setting. The room stories featured are “Haven in the city,” “Limited space, unlimited you,” “Full house,” and “Where more is more.”

The rooms include a small apartment shared between two roommates, a studio for a single parent and daughter, a busy living and toy/dining area for a family of six and a couple’s large home with unique trinkets from travels abroad. Like most of IKEA’s products, the furniture features clever ways to store and organize items to maximize space in every inch of a New York City apartment.

The newest catalog is intended to celebrate “75 years of enabling a better everyday life at home for the many.”

“In our 2019 catalog, we are thrilled to introduce a multitude of exciting new products that stay true to our heritage, providing gorm and function that’s both easy on our wallets and our planet,” Shideh Hashemi, the marketing manager for IKEA U.S., said.

Guests can play a trivia game about IKEA and potentially win some prizes. And of course, the company’s famous Swedish meatballs will be served at a meatball bar, accompanied by a variety of sauces.

More details about the event can be found on its Facebook page here. Explore the come-to-life catalog at the pop-up event during the following hours:
