East Village Mexican-American cocktail bar Superbueno crowned best in the U.S.

After just a year in business, an East Village cocktail bar has been named the best bar in the country. The annual list of the 50 best bars in North America was released on Wednesday, crowning Superbueno as the top establishment in the United States and second on the continent. Located at 13 1st Avenue, the Mexican-American cocktail bar serves drinks inspired by Mexican cuisine with a New York twist.
Founded by Cocktail Kingdom Hospitality Group in partnership with renowned New York City bartender and hospitality professional Ignacio “Nacho” Jimenez, Superbueno celebrates Jimenez’s Mexican roots and his life in NYC, offering a unique blend of both cultures.
“When we opened Superbueno just a year ago, our team was inspired to provide New York with our distinct perspective of Mexican hospitality rooted in heritage and community. This recognition from North America’s 50 Best Bars speaks to how the Superbueno experience has resonated with guests thanks to the amazing work our team has done from day one,” Jimenez said.

The cocktail menu features distinct creations inspired by Mexican cuisine, like the fan-favorite Green Mango Martini (tequila, mango eau de vie, sauternes, green mango, and honey), the Vodka Y Soda (vodka, guava, pasilla, soda), and the Mushroom Margarita (mezcal, Cointreau, huitlacoche, lime, and lava salt).
The food menu, prepared by Executive Chef Cyed Adranciem, includes Mexican fare through a “New York lens,” featuring dishes like Al Pastor Yaki Tacos, Birria Grilled Cheese, and Tamarindo Glazed Pork Ribs.
Superbueno is open Mondays through Fridays from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Learn more about the bar here.
