Mayor de Blasio announces competition to transition NYC to electric vehicles

With about 30 percent of local greenhouse gas emissions coming from transportation in New York City, officials are looking for the tech industry’s help in switching to electric vehicles as part of their bold climate goals. On Monday, Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration announced the latest NYCx moonshot challenge to develop a green transportation system using electric vehicles (EVs), which give off no tailpipe emissions and require less maintenance.
