Hudson Yards’ Vessel will reopen with a buddy system in place

In January, Hudson Yards' 150-foot climbable sculpture Vessel closed after three people jumped to their deaths from the structure. According to a report in Gothamist, the attraction will reopen this Friday, but with new protocols in place. First, single people will no longer be able to enter Vessel; they will have to visit in groups of two or more. And instead of being free, most time slots will now cost $10 per person.

Hudson Yards penthouse with a 920-foot-high terrace lists for $59M

At 1,010 feet, 35 Hudson Yards is the tallest tower in the west side mega-development and the fifth-tallest residential building in all of New York City. And its penthouse is also a record-setter, offering the highest private terrace in the whole city. As was first reported by the NY Post, the five-bedroom home on the building's 90th floor has just hit the market for $59 million. The terrace sits 920 feet above street level.

Take a yoga class 1,100 feet in the sky at Hudson Yards’ Edge

Looking to take your yoga practice to new heights? Hudson Yards' Edge, the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere, is bringing back its "sky-high" yoga experience next week. Run by Equinox, the classes take place on the 100th-floor observation deck of 30 Hudson Yards, 1,100 feet above ground. The first weekly event will take place on Thursday, May 6th. The $50 tickets go on sale this Friday and will be released on a week-by-week basis.

Super Bowl champ Rob Gronkowski snags a $7M condo at 35 Hudson Yards

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski has scored a new home. As first reported by the New York Post, the Super Bowl champion bought a $7 million three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath luxury apartment at 35 Hudson Yards, the tallest building in the mega-development. Gronk's friend/teammate Tom Brady also owns a home in New York City, a pied-a-terre at 70 Vestry Street in Tribeca.

Tribeca Film Festival returns this summer with 12 days of outdoor screenings in every borough

The Tribeca Film Festival first launched in 2002 following the September 11 terrorist attacks, part of an effort to fuel Lower Manhattan's comeback. Now after a devastating year for New York, the film festival hopes to bring the city together once again for its 20th anniversary. From June 9 to June 20, there will be 12 days of outdoor, in-person screenings with events taking place in every borough.

The Shed reopens in Hudson Yards next month with live music and comedy shows

As spring returns to New York City, so does its arts and culture scene. The Shed, the Hudson Yards performance center with a distinct moveable shell, announced this week it will reopen with a five-night indoor performance series kicking off on April 2. Following state guidelines, the capacity will be limited to 150 people and all attendees must present confirmation of a negative coronavirus test within 72 hours or vaccination completed at least two weeks before the event.

New York City's highest outdoor observation deck has a special treat for lovebirds this Valentine's Day. For that one day, Edge will be opening at 6am, allowing visitors the rare opportunity to watch the sunrise from 1,131 feet in the air. In addition, from February 12th-21st, the Hudson Yards attraction will extend its daily hours from 8am to 10pm (perhaps to accommodate an expected rush of proposals?).

Bjarke Ingels’ 66-story Spiral tower tops out at Hudson Yards

Bjarke Ingels' new office tower with twisting terraces officially topped out at Hudson Yards this week. Aptly named The Spiral, the 66-story skyscraper reached its 1,031-foot pinnacle, developer Tishman Speyer announced on Tuesday. Upon its completion in 2022, the tower at 66 Hudson Boulevard will stretch a full block between West 34th and 35th Streets and contain 2.8 million square feet of office space and ground-floor retail.

Hudson Yards’ 150-foot Vessel temporarily closes after third suicide

After the third suicide in less than a year was reported at the Vessel this week, the 150-foot climbable structure has temporarily closed. On Monday, a 21-year-old man from Texas jumped to his death from the bronzed steel and concrete sculpture. Hudson Yards developer Related Companies is now looking to address ways to prevent future tragedies at the Manhattan site, as Patch first reported.

However, after we discovered a glitch in our vote-counting system (how 2020!), the results are too close to call and it’s a virtual tie with One South First. If it were another year, we would extend the voting to call a single winner, but it is 2020, and we don’t want to think about voting anymore! The fact that our readers put these two buildings on par is fitting, as they are both prominent projects that have changed the trajectories of their respective neighborhoods--15 Hudson Yards at the Hudson Yards mega-development and One South First at the Domino Sugar development on the south Williamsburg waterfront. 101st-floor restaurant at 30 Hudson Yards will reopen for indoor dining next month

The restaurant on the 101st floor of 30 Hudson Yards will reopen for indoor dining on October 6. Peak, which first opened to the public in March and then closed later that month because of the coronavirus pandemic, has again started taking reservations for its massive 10,000-square-foot dining room, which sits one floor above Edge, the 1,100-foot-high outdoor sky deck. The restaurant said it will not take any parties larger than 10 guests and will not accept cash payments.

Hudson Yards’ Vessel and Edge reopen today

Hudson Yards announced that both Vessel and Edge reopen today. The 150-foot-tall climbable public art piece and the observation deck that's 1,100 feet in the air (the highest in the Western Hemisphere) have been closed since March, only two days after Edge officially opened to the public. Both attractions will operate at 25 percent capacity and have numerous health and social distancing protocols in place.

There’s a giant gorilla sculpture in Hudson Yards

To raise awareness and funds for the critically endangered gorilla species, public artists Gillie and Marc Schattner have created a massive sculpture of the animal that arrived this week in Hudson Yards' Bella Abzug Park. Titled King Nyani, Swahili for gorilla, it's the world's largest bronze gorilla sculpture and can fit two to three humans just in its hands.

Banu Cennetoğlu, "right?" The High Line is reviewing proposals for its next two art installations and is asking the public for feedback. The Plinth, part of the elevated park's newest section, the Spur, which opened last year, is dedicated space for public art, visible from the street at 30th Street and 10th Avenue. Eighty nominated artists have submitted proposals to be considered for the third and fourth Plinth commissions and now you can provide comments for each on the park's website.

New York City's newest Whole Foods Market opened in Hudson Yards on Friday, becoming the grocery store chain's 14th Big Apple location. Located at 450 West 33rd Street, the market sits on the ground level of 5 Manhattan West, a 15-story office tower that is part of the six-building complex Manhattan West. The new Whole Foods measures more than 60,200 square feet and features a number of local vendors, like Threes Brewing, Café Grumpy, and Beecher's Handmade Cheese, as well as a spacious set up for outdoor dining.

Edge, the 1,100-foot-tall outdoor observation deck at Hudson Yards, is expected to reopen next week with safety precautions taken to "new heights." The sky-high deck first opened to the public on the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards in March, only to close two days later because of the coronavirus pandemic. Now, as New York City prepares to enter phase four of reopening, Related Companies says visitors could start experiencing Edge as soon as July 20, with new timed-entry tickets and public health measures created in collaboration with the Mount Sinai Health System.

New looks revealed for 3 Hudson Boulevard, the next office tower to rise at Hudson Yards

A new design–the third so far–has been revealed for 3 Hudson Boulevard, the next office tower to rise at Hudson Yards. Located at the northwest corner of West 34th Street and Hudson Boulevard, the tower, which has long been in planning stages, will have 1.85 million square feet of office space. The latest designs reveal a height of just under 1,000 feet with 56 stories, the New York Post reports. Some floors will have ceilings of almost 30 feet with terraces at the end.
