Thrill-seekers will have the opportunity to ring in the New Year while hanging over the edge of the highest open-air building climb in the world. On Tuesday, City Climb introduced the exclusive event with spots open for eight people. City Climb, located on top of 30 Hudson Yards, offers participants breathtaking views of New York City as they scale a set of open-edged stairways and platforms on the outside of the building. Those who are daring enough and want to welcome the new year on a ‘high’ note can join the digital queue here, which begins at noon on December 22.

Tickets are $150 and include 2 glasses of champagne, complimentary swag, and access to Edge’s indoor and outdoor bars. The event will be accompanied by a live DJ who will be playing from 8:30 p.m. through 12:30 a.m.

For those who aren’t able to secure a spot on the New Year’s climb, City Climb tickets for alternate dates, as well as tickets for those who would rather celebrate from the Edge instead of the Apex are available here.

Before beginning their ascent, participants listen to a comprehensive safety briefing and are secured into the course by City Climb guides using specially designed safety harnesses. The experience begins at 10:00 p.m. with participants climbing 32 steps to The Cliff, looking down at the city 1,190 feet below. After passing this first ascent, participants begin climbing The Stair, a staircase consisting of 161 steps on a 45-degree incline.

The most thrilling part of the journey takes place at The Apex, which sits at 1,271 feet above the city. At the peak, climbers have the opportunity to lean out over the edge of the platform, which on New Year’s Eve will take place as the clock strikes midnight.

Afterward, guests will receive a commemorative medal as well as a personalized video from their climb. They can also take some time to enjoy the view from Edge and enjoy the sky decks offerings, which include a champagne toast to celebrate their achievement.

City Climb is open seven days a week with hours changing seasonally. More information on City Climb, including images and video from the experience, can be viewed here.

Edge is open seven days a week year-round, with general admission adult tickets costing $36 online and $38 when purchased in-person. New York City residents can buy adult tickets online for $34.

Special rates are available for groups, as well as active and retired members of the U.S. military. Tickets for children cost $31 online and $33 in-person.
