Leasing launched this week for 190 luxury apartments in the heart of Chelsea. Located at 280 West 24th Street, Chelsea Canvas is a new block-long rental building offering modern homes with interior design by INC Architecture and Design, an exclusive amenities package, and a Target on the ground floor. The building has a mix of studios, one, two, and three bedrooms; pricing currently starts at roughly $4,500/month.

Developed by Chelsea 23rd Realty LLC and Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and designed by FXCollaborative, the 175-foot-tall building features a striking facade with a unique brick pattern inspired by the neighborhood’s legacy of mid-rise residential architecture. There’s also a “townhouse-sized entry pavilion” on 24th Street.

INC Architecture, known for landmark projects such as the TWA Hotel at John F. Kennedy International Airport and 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, designed the interiors for the residential and amenity spaces.

Of the building’s 190 apartments, roughly 25 percent are affordable for low-income seniors. In August, a housing lottery opened for 44 affordable senior apartments.

Amenities include flexible lounge and work spaces, a children’s playroom, a 24-hour attended lobby, bike storage, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a yoga studio. Outdoor amenities include a turf for workouts, a courtyard terrace with plush seating and landscaping, and a rooftop lounge and sundeck with grills and breathtaking city views, especially of Hudson Yards.

Plus, Apple Bank and Target will operate at the building. Target is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Apartments feature high-end designs, including white Caesarstone countertops and full-height backsplashes, white oak cabinets, an integrated refrigerator and dishwasher, and a Bosch gas range and oven. All residences feature in-unit washers and dryers, keyless entry, solar shades, and high ceiling heights.

The bathrooms feature Italian-inspired stone-style tiles, single and double oak vanities with white Caesarstone sink tops, and glass showers with rainfall shower heads.

The building’s prime location in Chelsea is close to famous attractions like The High Line, Chelsea Market, and Chelsea Piers, as well as art galleries, fine dining, nightlife, shopping, and much more.

Residents will have easy access to public transit, including the A, C, and E trains on 23rd Street, the 1 train on Seventh Avenue, and the M20 and M23-SBS buses.

“With sophisticated and high-quality design, thoughtful amenities, and one of Manhattan’s most desirable living destinations, Chelsea Canvas offers the comprehensive lifestyle experience renters are looking for in New York City right now, and we look forward to soon welcoming our first residents,” Matthew Villetto, executive vice president of Douglas Elliman Development Marketing, said.

Current availabilities start at $4,477/month for studios, $6,392/month for one-bedrooms, and $9,115/month for two-bedrooms, according to CityRealty.
