Citi Bike docks installed at Citi Field ahead of Mets home opener

Baseball fans can now ride Citi Bikes to Citi Field, just in time for the start of the 2024 season. The New York Mets, Citi Bike, and Lyft on Thursday unveiled new docking stations at Citi Field, offering another way to travel to a ball game. The stadium will feature 66 docks, about half of which are near the main entrance near the homerun apple and another half next to the intersection of Shea Road and Boat Basin Place.

Mets owner reveals ‘Metropolitan Park’ proposal for $8B casino complex next to Citi Field

New York Mets owner Steve Cohen on Tuesday unveiled new details for his plan to build a casino across the street from Citi Field. The billionaire hedge fund manager has teamed up with Hard Rock International on the proposed "Metropolitan Park," a sports and entertainment development planned for 50 acres of what is currently parking lots next to the Flushing, Queens baseball stadium. The $8 billion proposal includes a Hard Rock-run entertainment complex with a hotel, live music venue, restaurants, and a casino, 20 acres of public space, a Queens-themed food hall, a renovated transit station, and more.

New York Mets take over the NYC subway for playoff run

To pump up New Yorkers ahead of the New York Mets' first playoff run in six years, the baseball team is taking over the subway system with a new ad campaign. The baseball team's iconic blue and orange colors and images of current and former players will be seen across the 7 train, the Times Square-Grand Central shuttle, and in the subway stations at Hudson Yards and Grand Central starting this week.

Yankees and Mets opening at full capacity for vaccinated fans, will offer vaccines at games

Are you a baseball fan who's still not vaccinated? Starting May 19, you can attend a game, get a free ticket, AND receive the Covid vaccine. In a press conference today, Governor Cuomo was joined by Yankees President Randy Levine and Mets President Sandy Alderson to announce the new initiative. He also announced that starting May 19, both New York City baseball stadiums will be able to increase capacity to 100 percent for vaccinated people and 33 percent with six-foot distancing for unvaccinated people. There will be two separate seating sections, both of which will require fans to wear masks.

Baseball is back: New York announces increased capacity for sports venues

In a press conference this morning, with guest appearances by former Mets and Yankees pitchers Al Leiter and CC Sabathia, Governor Cuomo announced that as of April 1, professional sports leagues that play in large outdoor stadiums can reopen at 20-percent capacity. What does this mean for baseball season? When Yankee Stadium has its home opener on April 1st, it'll be able to accommodate 10,850 fans; on April 8th, Citi Field will have 8,384 fans.

With baseball set to return next month, Yankees and Mets will train in New York

Baseball is back. After the coronavirus pandemic put the sport on hold for over three months, Major League Baseball on Tuesday announced a plan to return, with "spring" training to resume on July 1 and opening day games scheduled for July 23 and 24, with no fans. The training will take place at the home stadiums for teams, meaning the Yankees and Mets will return to the Bronx and Flushing starting this week.

Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard is renting at Midtown’s athlete-filled Sky

Not only do the Mets have a winning record on the field to star the season, but their star pitcher Noah Syndergaard is racking up the runs when it comes to real estate. Last year, he rented at Midtown's swanky MiMA tower, and now Curbed reports that he's spending this season just a few blocks west on 42nd Street at the pro athlete-filled Sky, the largest rental in NYC.
