Emma Stone’s former Chelsea townhouse returns for $19.75M

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, Jason Statham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Glenn Close, Courtney Love, Olivier Sarkozy--all of these celebs have called the landmarked townhouse at 436 West 20th Street home. But as Curbed notes, this A-list roster isn't helping the 1835 Greek Revival beauty find a buyer, which may have to do with the fact that it's currently chopped up into five units. "It first hit the market in 2010 for $21 million, returned in 2012 for $19 million, and returned yet again in 2015 for $22.5 million," they explain, and it's now hoping 2017 will be its lucky year, as it's just returned for $19.75 million.

$40M Brooklyn Heights townhouse with a mayoral past is now four pricey rentals

After being on the market for over two years, Brooklyn’s priciest townhouse–a $40 million home at 3 Pierrepont Place–is now being offered as four rental units. 6sqft previously featured the home, known as the Low Mansion for the previous owner and businessman A.A. Low, whose son, Seth Low, became mayor of New York City in 1902. Spanning 17,500 square feet, the eight-figure townhouse boasted 15 bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, and more than 9,000 square feet of garden and outdoor space with original details galore. Though even Matt Damon toured the grand Brooklyn Heights property back in September, the house hasn't found a buyer, so the owner is now offering the mansion as four luxurious rental homes from a $4,500 one-bedroom to a 1,700-square-foot top-floor unit for $12,000 a month (h/t Curbed).

Secret Russian compound on Long Island shut down after Obama-issued sanctions

News of President Obama imposing sanctions against the two Russian intelligence agencies that were allegedly involved in the DNC hacking that affected the 2016 presidential election is perhaps the biggest news in the world right now, but it hits a lot closer to home than many New Yorkers may realize. The administration expelled 35 intelligence officials from the country and ordered two intelligence compounds closed, one of which is a 49-room mansion on a 14-acre property in Glen Cove on Long Island's ritzy Gold Coast (h/t Gothamist). NBC New York reports that, although the Soviet Union purchased it in 1951 to be used as weekend home for its UN delegates, many locals were never aware of its existence as a "longtime getaway for Russian diplomats" that was "also used for Russian intelligence purposes."

Amy Schumer finally sheds her Upper West Side walk-up penthouse

Amy Schumer will have a little extra to celebrate over this week. According to the Post, the comedienne has finally found a buyer for her Upper West Side co-op. Schumer originally put the adorable pad up for sale in November 2015 for $2.075 million and it's been on and off the market since then seeing several price chops. The home was last listed for $1.625 million and is said to be in contract with an unknown buyer for an unknown amount.

Matt Lauer sells cute, beachy bay front Hamptons cottage for $3.5M

Back in July 6sqft reported that "Today Show" host Matt Lauer had put his Southampton beach cottage at 67 Scotts Landing Road on the market for $4 million; the listing was one of several real estate moves the seasoned TV journo has recently made, including the purchase of Richard Gere's Hamptons estate for $36 million at around the same time. Now Variety reports that the diminutive seaside home has sold for $3.5 million–less than the ask but a nice bump from the home's $2.19 million 2009 purchase price. In addition to the aforementioned 6.3 acre gated North Haven estate, Lauer and his wife Annette also currently own Brightside Farms, a 40-acre tract of land in Water Mill on which they have built a world-class equestrian facility and a 25-acre estate in the Water Mill area that includes an 8,000-square-foot 6-bedroom mansion decorated by Muriel Brandolini; the latter is also currently on the market for $17 million.

Mystery investor buys Donald Trump’s childhood home in hopes of flipping it

Hoping to cash in on Trump-mania, an anonymous New York investor scooped up the President Elect's childhood home in Jamaica Estates, Queens in the hopes of bringing it to auction next month and turning a profit. Mansion Global got the news from auctioneers Paramount Realty USA, who say the bidding will take place on January 17th. Previous reports have estimated that the six-bedroom, Tudor-style home that Trump's father Fred built could fetch up to ten times its most recent $1.2 million ask, or a whopping $10 million.

Upper East Side townhouse in contract for $81M will be most expensive ever sold

When Carlos Slim, Mexican business magnate and former world’s richest person, listed his Upper East Side Beaux Arts mansion for $80 million in May 2015 he was looking to break the record for most expensive townhouse ever sold in NYC. An attempt was then made by this $84.5 million home on East 62nd Street, but now another neighborhood home is set to take the title. As the Post shares, 19 East 64th Street was listed for $100 million in August, and it's now in contract by a Chinese conglomerate for a reported $81 million. If it closes, the price will far surpass the current record, the $53 million sale of the Harkness Mansion at 4 East 75th Street in 2006.

Lawsuit: Co-op board told Madonna she can’t have daughter Lourdes stay at her pad when she’s out

In a recent court filing, Madonna's attorney wrote that the pop star was “entitled” to have her “adult daughter” Lourdes live in the $7.3 million duplex that she purchased in 2008, The New York Post shares. As 6sqft previously reported, Madge sued the board at 1 West 64th Street, known as Harperley Hall, in April after they attempted to ban the performer's family and staff from being in the apartment when she wasn't there. According to court papers, the co-op building's board illegally changed her original lease in 2014 to say that no one under 16 could reside in the apartment unless an adult over age 21 was present.

$3.95M Yonkers castle with more than 20 rooms is out of this world

Just outside of New York City, at 170 Shonnard Terrace in Yonkers, you could be living like a literal king. This property is home to a stone castle with over 20 rooms replicated to reflect 16th through 18th century European style. The castle, known as Greystone Court, began as a country house in the 1880s and expanded over the years until it became its luxurious, grand current iteration. Earlier this month, 6sqft shared reports that Amy Schumer toured a $15 million, historic Beaux Arts mansion at 352 Riverside Drive. But just two weeks later, the comedian closed on a more contemporary penthouse farther south along the river. Sources told the Post that she dropped $12.1 million on a 4,500-square-foot duplex at 91st Street, and after some sleuthing, 6sqft has uncovered that it's the top-floor spread at 190 Riverside Drive. The Emma Flower Taylor Mansion is the historic Watertown home of its namesake and her husband John Byron Taylor.
