Just about a year ago, nine $774/month SROs at Stardom Hall at 330 West 51st Street became available through the city’s affordable housing lottery. While it was quite the deal–more so for its location on what is arguably Hell’s Kitchen’s most foodie-friendly block–the units had shared-floor bathrooms and just kitchenettes. But if those aren’t deterrents for you, 13 more units at the building next door, 332, are now up for grabs, asking $714/month. They’re available to single persons currently residing in Manhattan Community Board 4 and earning 60 percent of the area median income.

Other offerings include 24-hour security, an on-site resident manager, community room, backyard, laundry room, and on-site social services for low-income or formerly homeless households with special needs. And as mentioned, just some of the tasty spots on the block are IppudoAria Wine Bar, and Maria Pia.

The brownstone tenements at 330 and 332 West 51st Street are one of just four single-room-occupancy complexes left in the neighborhood. As 6sqft previously reported, the buildings were purchased in 2012 by non-profit affordable housing developer Lantern Group in conjunction with the Department of Housing Preservation & Development.

Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable SRO units at 332 West 51st Street until September 13, 2017. Residents of Manhattan Community Board 4 will be given preference for 100 percent of the units. Complete details on how to apply are available here (pdf). Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.

Great rent deal but do you really want to share a bathroom with a bunch of homeless addicts?
