A new rental development in Bed-Stuy with a huge 12th-floor roof deck opened a lottery for 70 below-market-rate apartments. Located at 1100 Myrtle Avenue on the border of Bushwick, the MC rises 11 stories and stretches a full block from Myrtle to Vernon Avenues. Qualifying New Yorkers earning 80 and 130 percent of the area median income, between $57,258 for a single person and $218,010 for a household of five, can apply for the apartments, priced from $1,585/month studios to $3,800/month two bedrooms.

The entrance to the development is on the brownstone-lined Vernon Avenue.

Developed by Shorewood Real Estate Group and designed by Hill West Architects, the MC, named after the Roman Numeral for 1100, has 224 rentals, 163 of which are market-rate residences.

Alchemy Studio handled the project’s apartment interiors, which feature high ceilings, oversized windows, and European oak flooring. Each unit features a sleek matte black kitchen equipped with a full suite of stainless-steel appliances, Caesarstone countertops, and grey stone backsplashes. Bathrooms include custom oak vanities and complementary matte black fixtures, ensuring a relaxing space.

The property boasts over 26,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities. These include an attended lobby, a co-working library, an outdoor work-from-home terrace, a billiards room, a residents’ party room, and a fitness center. The building is also pet-friendly, featuring a state-of-the-art dog run and a pet spa.

A highlight of the health and wellness-focused amenities suite is the fully landscaped 12th-floor roof deck. The outdoor space offers designated lounging zones, barbecues, and al fresco dining areas, all with sweeping skyline and city views as a backdrop.

Additional perks include a 24-hour self-service package room, a live-in building super and building manager, electric vehicle charging stations, and bike storage.

Residents will also have access to a newly-opened 29,000-square-foot Food Bazaar supermarket on the ground floor and attended indoor parking in the property’s cellar.

Nearby public transit options include the J, M, and Z trains, located around the corner from the Myrtle Avenue subway station. Additional options include the B15 and B54 buses.

Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the apartments until July 23, 2024. Complete details on how to apply are available here. Preference for 20 percent of the units will be given to residents of Brooklyn Community District 4. Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
