For New Yorkers who want to avoid Times Square during the New Year’s Eve ball drop, there are still plenty of other options to celebrate the New Year. Ahead, find a few ways to say goodbye to 2022 and hello to 2023 in New York City, from feasting on Singaporean cuisine at the new food hall Urban Hawker and gazing up at the glowing sky during a firework display at Prospect Park to dance parties and champagne toasts at festive venues across the city.

Slate, Chelsea’s multi-level nightlife spot, is hosting a New Year’s Eve celebration to be remembered. Come and enjoy five hours of open bar access, two hours of complimentary appetizers, live music by a DJ, and much more. Besides the New Year’s Eve festivities, Slate offers a variety of fun activities, including bowling, ping pong, pool tables, pinball, an arcade, and a 16,000-square-foot adult playground. Tickets start at $145 per person.

Celebrate the New Year with other music lovers in the heart of Times Square. Nebula is a futuristic, modern nightclub that is offering a way to ring in the New Year in a “boisterous fashion,” with non-stop music from a live DJ playing all the latest and greatest hits. Guests will have access to a five-hour open bar from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., and a complimentary glass of champagne at midnight. Tickets start at $180

Ainslie is hosting NYE events at both its Brooklyn and Bowery locations. Both kick-off at 9 p.m., with live music from a special guest DJ, appetizers until 11 p.m., and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Attendants of the party at Ainslie Bowery can buy general admission open bar tickets and enjoy a four-hour premium open bar from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., with tickets beginning at $75. In Union Square, Hidden Lane’s extravaganza includes a special live DJ performance and a premium five-hour open bar offering cocktail favorites from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. There will also be a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Tickets start at $110.

Bushwick’s House of Yes is hosting Gala Galactica, a space-themed New Year’s Eve celebration with music by Pontchartrain, DJ Cent, and DJ Ultra Violet. Ring in the New Year atop a Manhattan rooftop with sweeping views of the city skyline. General admission tickets include access to an open bar from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., hors d’oeuvres from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., festive party favors, live music, and a complimentary midnight champagne toast. For the first since the start of the pandemic, Prospect Park’s New Year’s Eve firework celebration is returning to light up the sky. Join Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, NYC Parks, and the Prospect Park Alliance for a night to remember. The night will include live music by Quintessential Playlist beginning at 10 p.m. before the fireworks show begins. The event is free, and you can RSVP here.

Good Riddance Day

Good Riddance Day is an opportunity to say goodbye to memories of the past year that you want to forget and start off the next on the right foot. Participants are encouraged to submit their bad memories, regrets, or just anything they would rather live without. The event is inspired by a Latin American New Year tradition in which revelers stuffed dolls with objects symbolizing their bad memories and then set them ablaze. If you’re not in NYC, you can use the hashtag #GoodRiddanceDay on Twitter and Instagram to submit your unwanted memories. You can register for the free event in advance here.

New York Road Runners Midnight Run

Get a head start on the new year with the New York Road Runners. The non-profit running group, organizers of the NYC Marathon, are hosting their annual run into the New Year. Hosted in Central Park, the race begins once the clock hits midnight, followed by a fireworks show. Entry starts at $70 for non-NYRR members with discounts for members. TIMES UP! Annual New Year’s Eve Bike Ride
Washington Square Park
December 31 at 10 p.m.
Reclaimed Urban Space is inviting all cyclists and skaters to ride into the New Year. After meeting at the designated start locations, riders will travel to Central Park’s Belvedere Castle for a free New Year’s Eve dance party. This year’s event has four meet-up locations, Brooklyn’s Grand Army Plaza at 9 p.m., the Williamsburg Bridge’s Brooklyn entrance at 9:45 p.m., the Washington Square Arch in Washington Square Park at 10 p.m., and at Madison Square Park in Manhattan at 10:20 p.m.

Urban Hawker, the Singaporean-style food hall that opened earlier this year in Midtown, is hosting its first-ever NYE event. The food hall is home to 17 vendors, each offering its own diverse fare. The December 31 event will feature unlimited small bites from the food hall’s vendors, an open bar, and dancing. Tickets cost $150 plus tax and fees.

Dumbo’s Time Out Market is welcoming guests for a special New Year’s celebration. Chinatown’s famed Apotheke bar opened a new Nomad location this summer and is welcoming guests for its first-ever New Year’s Eve party. Guests will be able to ring in the New Year from Apotheke’s cellar speakeasy, penthouse lounge, and rooftop terrace while sipping on one of the bar’s signature medicinal-themed cocktails.

e’s, the Upper West Side neighborhood bar, is hosting a special celebration with live music, karaoke, complimentary party hats and noisemakers, and a free champagne toast when the clock strikes midnight. Doors open at noon and the NYE festivities begin at 8 p.m. There is no cover fee required.

Italian American cocktail bar and restaurant Carroll Place is opening its doors for a New Year’s celebration, with festivities kicking off at 10 p.m. The Greenwich Village restaurant will offer live DJ, dancing, a pizza bar, and passed hors d’ouevres. Tickets start at $50.

Bar Marseille

Rockaway’s Bar Marseille is offering a festive menu in celebration of 2023, offering its signature French-American cuisine. Main course offerings include crab cakes, beef bourguignon, tuna au Poivre, and more. For dessert, patrons can enjoy creme brulee and choose from a wide selection of spirits, wines, and beers. There will also be a midnight prosecco toast available at tables or the bar for $65 per person, a live DJ starting at 9 p.m., and an open bar late into the night until 2 a.m.
