Midtown East penthouse seen in ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ lists for $4.95M

The New York City penthouse that acted as the fictional home of financial fraudster Jordan Belfort in the 2013 film "The Wolf of Wall Street" is back on the market. Located on the 32nd floor of the Midtown East condo building Milan at 300 East 55th Street, the luxurious, 2,700-square-foot penthouse serves as the setting of a pivotal scene where an associate of Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, dangles a butler over the balcony. The scene shows off the very real sweeping city views, especially of the Chrysler Building, from the three-bedroom home, which just hit the market for $4,950,000.

Pink buys historic yellow Greenwich Village townhouse for $21.5M

Pink bought a yellow Greenwich Village townhouse. The pop star paid $21.5 million for the historic six-story home at 125 West 11th Street, as the Wall Street Journal first reported. Built in 1849, the cheerfully painted Greek Revival mansion has served as a haven for artists for over a century, most recently the same family for 70 years. Following a three-year renovation, the roughly 7,900-square-foot home first hit the market for $25 million in 2024 before being reduced by $3.5 million last fall.

City to restart Flatbush Avenue redesign this month

Work to redesign Brooklyn’s Flatbush Avenue will resume this month, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the city's Department of Transportation (DOT) announced Thursday. The project will create dedicated center lanes along the notoriously congested and dangerous corridor from Livingston Street to Grand Army Plaza, and is expected to speed up commutes for 132,000 daily bus riders, who currently travel at average speeds of under 4 miles per hour. Initial work on the four-phase project began last fall, but DOT suspended construction because of winter weather. Construction will restart at the end of April and continue into the fall of 2026, weather permitting.

New look at Fifth Avenue’s tallest residential tower, 262 Fifth Ave

New renderings of Fifth Avenue's tallest residential building were released this week as sales kick off at the condominium. Developed by Five Points Development and designed by Meganom, 262 Fifth Avenue is a 52-story tower in Nomad with only 26 full-floor and duplex residences. In addition to new images, the developer launched a teaser website for the building and announced a new sales team from Sotheby's International Realty.

Oleg Cassini’s former UES mansion sells for $34.5M after lengthy bankruptcy battle

An Upper East Side townhouse tied to late fashion designer Oleg Cassini has sold for $34.5 million, bringing a years-long legal and bankruptcy battle to a close. The five-story home at 15 East 63rd Street was at the center of a high-profile dispute involving Cassini’s widow, Marianne Nestor, and her sister, Peggy Nestor, who filed for bankruptcy in 2023 after creditors moved to foreclose on the Beaux Arts limestone townhouse. The pair had filed, and lost, nearly 20 court appeals to delay the case and keep the residence, according to Crain’s.

Brooklyn Bridge to get separate bike and pedestrian entrances in Manhattan

New York City this week launched another new street safety project ahead of the FIFA World Cup this summer. Starting in April, the city will fully separate the cyclist and pedestrian entrances to the Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan for the first time, Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced Friday. Dedicated cyclist and pedestrian entrances from Centre Street and Park Row will allow bike riders to access the bridge without cutting through crowds. Slated for completion in June, the redesign will also convert a left-turn bay on Centre Street between Chambers Street and the bridge entrance into a two-way protected bike lane.

New community space opens at Wagner Park Pavilion in Battery Park City

A new community space with sweeping views of New York Harbor opened Monday at the Pavilion in Battery Park City’s Wagner Park. Dubbed "The Classroom," the 1,200-square-foot space is designed for public engagements, private rentals, catered events, and business meetings. The addition marks the latest phase of Wagner Park Pavilion’s revitalization, following a two-year overhaul that included reopening the park in July, after elevating it by 10 feet and incorporating hidden flood protection measures as part of a nearly $300 million project.

New Museum opens OMA-designed expansion

After two years, the New Museum will reopen its doors this weekend, as its long-awaited $82 million expansion is finally complete. The seven-story, 60,000-square-foot addition, designed by OMA’s Shohei Shigematsu and Rem Koolhaas in collaboration with Cooper Robertson, one of the few projects combining the work of two living Pritzker Prize-winning architects, opens to the public on Saturday, March 21. Seamlessly combining with the existing SANAA-designed flagship on the Bowery at Prince Street, the project doubles the New Museum's gallery space, adds a permanent home for its cultural incubator NEW INC, and introduces a new outdoor plaza and a 100-seat all-day cafe and restaurant.

Smorgasburg returns for 16th year this April with 22 new vendors

Smorgasburg has unveiled its lineup of vendors ahead of its return next month, kicking off its 16th season the first weekend in April. The beloved outdoor food market will host 74 vendors, including 22 making their Smorasburg debut. The market opens in Williamsburg’s Marsha P. Johnson State Park on Saturday, April 4, followed by Prospect Park’s Breeze Hill on Sunday.

The much-anticipated new residential development, Eighty Clarkson, has released renderings of interiors and amenity spaces following a record-breaking year of sales. The not-yet-completed West Village condo has been kept under wraps, though quietly managing to sell over a billion dollars in volume during that time. WSJ recently featured the sought-after downtown development, reporting that a $129 million residence is currently in contract; if the sale proceeds, as 6sqft previously reported, it will set a new downtown Manhattan record.

30-foot surrealist steel sculptures arrive in two Manhattan neighborhoods

Two massive steel sculptures debuted Tuesday in Flatiron and the Meatpacking District, bringing surrealism into dialogue with the skyscrapers of Manhattan. Created by New York-born artist and filmmaker Charlotte Colbert, "Chasing Rainbows" features two 30-foot-tall surrealist sculptures in the bustling Flatiron South Plaza and 14th Street Square, inviting passersby to reconnect with their imagination in public spaces. On view through May 27, the installation marks Colbert’s first U.S. public art installation and represents the city’s first dual-neighborhood public art collaboration.

He says his brand is "rooted in beautiful things." And that’s just the approach he takes when selling homes in the Hudson Valley and Catskills — it’s not just about square footage and lot size; it’s about a beautiful life. On social media, This Old Hudson presents more like an interior design brand than a real estate company. The Instagram page dishes out stunning historic homes decked out in design magazine-worthy decor to its 126,000 followers. It tells the homes’ stories and even gives them names. New Hell’s Kitchen venue will host hologram ABBA show

Extell Development this week applied to demolish part of a block in Hell's Kitchen to build a venue that will host a hologram show featuring the Swedish pop band ABBA. As first reported by Crain's, the firm seeks to raze a string of low-rise buildings in Hell’s Kitchen—formerly home to a strip club, a dance club, and a lumberyard—between 11th Avenue and West 45th and 46th Streets. The new venue will become the permanent home for ABBA Voyage, a production designed by the legendary 1970s pop group featuring holograms of their younger selves, according to the New York Times.

Ivana Trump’s Lenox Hill townhouse sells for $14M, nearly half its original asking price

After nearly four years on the market, Ivana Trump's opulent Lenox Hill townhouse has finally sold, fetching much less than its original $26.5 million listing price. The five-story home at 10 East 64th Street sold for $14 million, according to property records and first reported by the Wall Street Journal, down from its initial 2022 ask. Ivana purchased the home for roughly $2.5 million in 1992, shortly after her divorce from Donald Trump. The property was first listed following Ivana's death in 2022, as 6sqft previously reported.

American Express unveils new World Trade Center headquarters

American Express on Wednesday announced plans to build a new global headquarters at the World Trade Center, marking the final commercial tower at the Lower Manhattan campus. Located at 200 Greenwich Street, also known as 2 World Trade Center, the Foster + Partners-designed skyscraper will be developed by Silverstein Properties and span nearly 2 million square feet across 55 floors. Construction will kick off this spring, with completion slated for 2031. American Express will be the tower’s sole tenant, housing up to 10,000 employees and featuring more than an acre of outdoor space.

125 affordable apartments to replace long-vacant Clinton Hill building

Gov. Kathy Hochul last week unveiled plans to raze and replace an abandoned building in Clinton Hill with a new mixed-use tower with 125 affordable apartments. Following a request for proposals issued last year, the state has tapped a partnership of nonprofit groups, Fifth Avenue Committee, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, and One Brooklyn Health, to redevelop 1024 Fulton Street. Officials have tried several times to revamp the site between Grand and Classon Avenues since the 1990s.

Whole Foods to open first Queens location in Ridgewood

Queens is set to get its first-ever Whole Foods, as the popular grocery chain signed a lease in Ridgewood this week. As first reported by Crain's, the Amazon-owned supermarket on Wednesday signed a 15-year deal for 28,000 square feet inside the former Beaux-Arts bank building at 55-60 Myrtle Avenue. The grocery store will take over a space previously occupied by Rite Aid, which filed for bankruptcy for the second time in May.
