Famed chef Eric Ripert puts Upper East Side condo on the market for $3.5M

As was first reported by the Post, celebrity chef Eric Ripert has put his Upper East Side condo on the market for $3,495,000.The French chef and cookbook author is best known for his three-Michelin-starred restaurant Le Bernardin, located in Midtown. He and his wife Sandra bought the three-bedroom home at 515 East 72nd Street in 2010 for $2,850,000. Sandra is now one of the agents selling the apartment for Douglas Elliman. She told the Post, "Eric designed the open kitchen, and it features an island where everyone gathers and watches while he cooks, especially on holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas."

John Steinbeck's waterfront cottage in Sag Harbor where he penned his final novel, The Winter of Discontent, is on the market for $17.9 million. The Pulitzer Prize-winning author bought the Hamptons home, tucked away on a bluff between two coves, in 1955, as the New York Times first reported. The property sits on nearly two acres and contains a two-bedroom main residence, a gazebo-like structure that Steinbeck used as a writing space, a guest cottage, and a 60-foot private dock.

According to city property records, actress Candice Bergen spent $2,150,000 on an Upper East Side co-op at 825 Fifth Avenue. The apartment last sold in 2007 for $1,600,000; it had previously been owned by eccentric real estate developer and political figure Abraham Hirschfeld, who passed away in 2005. In December, Ms. Bergen put her Hamptons home on the market for $18 million.

Norman Jaffe opened his first architecture practice in Bridgehampton in 1973, soon becoming famous for the many contempory residences he designed in the Hamptons. Throughout his 35-year career, he designed more than 600 projects, many of them notable for their sculptural forms, early inclusion of passive solar design, and glass and wood construction. 340-year-old East Hampton home reimagined with a modernist design asks $4.5M

An East Hampton Village home with roots dating back to the 17th-century is on the market for $4.495 million. The property at 177 Main Street was originally a Colonial saltbox built in 1680 and owned by John Mulford, one of the founders of the village. The home was named Congress Hall in the mid-19th-century as then-owner David Mulford used the space for local men to gather and talk about politics. After the site sold in 2012, owners transformed the property into a 5,500-square-foot compound with five bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths.

In Westchester, a mid-century modern home by Paul Rudolph asks $5.6M

Known as the Edersheim Residence, this Westchester home was built in 1958, but in the 1980s, owners Maurits and Claire Edersheim asked famed architect Paul Rudolph (who had renovated their Manhattan apartment in 1970) to completely revamp the residence. Rudolph added a new front facade, a trademark sunken living room, skylights, a guest house, indoor and outdoor pools, a covered porch, and much more. According to Galerie, the most recent owners retained all of Rudolph's modernist details but worked with the Paul Rudolph Foundation on a modernization that made the home nearly net-zero. They've now listed the stunner for $5.6 million.

At a whopping 20,000 square feet, the waterfront estate has an indoor pool, movie theater (complete with a ticket booth and stage curtains!), a personal arcade (with skee ball and pinball machines), and tons of marble.
