Waitlist opens for 55 middle-income units in Kips Bay, from $1,458/month

Located where Gramercy Park and Kips Bay meet, the residential building at 325 East 25th Street is now accepting applications for over 50 mixed-income apartments. Designed by SLCE Architects, the nine-story tower is reopening a housing lottery for nine vacant apartments, although all eligible applicants will be placed on the waitlist for any future vacancies. New Yorkers earning 80, 120, 145, and 165 percent of the area median income can apply for the units, which range in price from $1,458/month two-bedrooms to $2,612/month one-bedrooms.

As first reported by Bloomberg, the available duplex is located on the 127th and 128th floors of Central Park Tower, the tallest residential building in the world. According to the listing, the eight-bedroom "trophy home" is the highest duplex in the skyscraper, which stands more than 1,500 feet tall over Central Park. If it fetches the asking price, it would become the third most expensive sale in New York City ever.

Ben Stiller’s childhood home on the Upper West Side is for sale after more than 50 years

The long-time Upper West Side home of the late comedy duo Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara has hit the market for the first time in more than 50 years, the New York Times first reported. The expanded co-op at 118 Riverside Drive is where they raised their children, actors Amy Stiller and Ben Stiller, as well as "wrote and collaborated on material and entertained a host of celebrities," according to the Times. Stiller and Meara moved from Washington Heights into unit 5A in 1965 when the building was a rental (they paid $220/month) and purchased it when the building went co-op a few years later. In the early '80s, they also bought unit 5B and combined them into the five-bedroom home that is now listed for $5 million.

On the site of a proposed mixed-use development in Williamsburg, a temporary climate change-themed miniature golf course has opened. Two Trees Management on Monday announced visitors can now enjoy Putting Green, an 18-hole course designed by local groups that focuses on sustainability and climate issues, as well as a 25,000-square foot sustainable farm. The pop-up mini-golf course sits on the future site of the developer's project "River Ring," which includes two huge towers designed by Bjarke Ingels with more than 1,050 units of housing, a new YMCA, and a public beach.

A run-down commercial building in Chelsea will be replaced with a 200-unit mixed-income apartment tower. Affordable housing cooperative Penn South announced this week it tapped MAG Partners to redevelop 335 Eighth Avenue as a seven-story residential building with ground-floor commercial space, including a grocery store. The site, located on the corner of West 26th Street and 8th Avenue, is currently home to Gristedes, McDonald's, and a tennis center.

The seven-story building, located at 2724 Heath Avenue in the University Heights neighborhood, provides residents with a shared laundry room, gym, and fitness center. New Yorkers earning 120 percent of the area median income (AMI), or between $56,572 and $154,680 annually, can apply for the available units, which include $1,650/month studios, $1,750/month one-bedrooms, and $2,000/month two-bedrooms.

As first reported by the New York Post, the Super Bowl champion bought a $7 million three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath luxury apartment at 35 Hudson Yards, the tallest building in the mega-development. The proposal to construct two mixed-use skyscrapers and a public beach on the North Brooklyn waterfront is moving forward, although with an updated design, timeline, and name. As first reported by Brooklyn Paper, Two Trees Management is preparing to start the city's uniform land use review procedure (ULURP) in the coming weeks for its project "River Ring," which includes two huge towers designed by Bjarke Ingels with more than 1,000 units of housing, a YMCA, and an environmentally-conscious park with a cove and beach.

We Remember: New Yorkers share stories of loss, light, and love during the COVID pandemic

There's no way to describe this past year in words. We can list all the adjectives--painful, scary, hopeful, etc.--but no combination can truly articulate what it meant to be a New Yorker during the COVID-19 pandemic. This Sunday, the city will mark March 14--one year since NYC lost its first resident to the virus--with an official day of remembrance for the nearly 30,000 city residents who passed away. For our part, we decided to speak with our fellow New Yorkers and ask who or what they would like to remember on this somber anniversary. It might be someone they've lost, someone who did something heroic, or a larger group or event that played a role. And with these raw stories, we think we can describe this year, through all the feelings that can never be put into words.
