Priciest Townhouse in Washington Heights Sells for $2.4 Million

Acknowledged back in June as the most expensive townhouse in Washington Heights, this historic home at 431 West 162nd Street was met with skepticism from local bloggers. They cited its “colorful wall-to-wall carpeting” and the dearth of immediate amenities in the area. But according to city records, the townhouse has sold for $2.38 million, less than $200,000 under its $2.5 million asking price and still higher than any other townhouse in the area. The 980 Fifth Avenue co-op was on the market for roughly 6 months before a couple scooped up the gem. Warburg Realty’s Wendy Greenbaum held the listing and we’re guessing she used the apartment’s two most famous neighbors--Central Park and the New York City skyline—as a huge selling point.

Woolworth Penthouse to be Priced at a Record-breaking $110 Million

According to Bloomberg News, the penthouse at the Woolworth building will ask for a jaw-dropping $110 million when units hit the market this Fall. This is the highest-ever ask for an apartment in downtown Manhattan, and one sure to send the market into a frenzy. Jonathan Miller, president of appraiser Miller Samuel Inc., told Bloomberg that the price is indicative of the prestige and unique history of the landmarked building, rather than the location or its status as a luxury apartment. “We’ve seen rapid absorption downtown," he told Bloomberg, "but this project is unlike anything that’s come online.”

This Middlesex brownstone-clad townhouse at 12 Mount Morris Park West is a five-floor single-family home with a history that has been preserved with care. Set within the Mount Morris Park Historic District, overlooking Marcus Garvey Memorial Park, the distinctive home was built in 1888, designed by James E. Ware. Asking $9.75 million, the 25-foot-wide Queen Anne-style was last listed for $8.2M in 2021. According to the current listing, it has had only three owners in its over-a-century-long existence.

Ricky Martin has sold his Upper East Side apartment for $6.15 million after eight years on and off the market. As first reported by the New York Post, the Latin music icon parted ways with his four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom residence at 170 East End Avenue in Yorkville. Martin purchased the home in 2012 for $5.9 million and first listed it in 2017 for $8.4 million.

Amy Schumer sells Brooklyn Heights townhouse at $1.25M loss

Amy Schumer has sold her Brooklyn Heights townhouse for $11 million, well below its original asking price. City records filed Thursday show the actress and comedian took a $1.25 million loss on the property. Schumer first listed the iconic 19th-century home at 19 Cranberry Street—featured in the 1987 film "Moonstruck"—for $14 million in March, after purchasing the property with her husband, Chris Fischer, for $12.25 million in 2022. In July, the asking price was reduced by $1.25 million.

Once a parking garage, this $85M Village penthouse is now in line to break neighborhood sales records

Here's how far Manhattan real estate has come (or perhaps how far, to hat-tip the late Jimmy Cliff, it has to fall). With no sign of a slowdown in sight, this penthouse at 125 Perry Street is asking $85 million. The apartment could set a price record for Downtown Manhattan, but it's competing with a nearby condo last listed for $87.5 million that entered contract this past summer. The 7,000-square-foot condo residence on Perry Street sits atop a corner brick building that was once a parking garage, as Mansion Global reported.

Naftali Group’s new limestone condo tower at 800 Fifth Ave gets approved

Naftali Group's plan to demolish an existing Upper East Side residential building and replace it with a new condominium tower was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday. Designed by Ulrich Franzen in the 1970s, the existing post-modern building at 800 Fifth Avenue has about 200 rental units. Naftali, which acquired the building over the summer for $810 million, has tapped Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA) and SLCE to design a new limestone-clad tower with 55 condos and stunning Central Park views.

Like the East Wing of the White House, Donald Trump's childhood home is unrecognizable after a gut renovation. While not quite bulldozed, the Tudor-style property in Jamaica Estates, Queens, where the president lived until he was four, was totally rebuilt after a burst water pipe led to mold all over the home, which has been vacant except for a colony of feral cats. After selling for $835,000 earlier this year, the home at 85-15 Wareham Place is now back on the market for $2,300,000.

As first reported by CityRealty, the residence at 10 East 64th Street is now listed for $17.9 million, down from its original ask of $26.5 million and following a $4 million reduction in September 2023 after a year on the market.
