Egloo was created to offer people a more efficient alternative to the traditional methods of heating one’s home. The candle-powered terracotta dome takes advantage of the material’s natural ability to store heat, then gradually releases it by radiation even after the candle is no longer burning. The structure consist of four elements: the base, grill and two domes.
The base of the Egloo was designed to allow space for the candle, so when it is lit the dome is heated. The metal grill supports the two additional dome pieces, creating the appropriate amount of space and air to feed the combustion of the candles.
With four candles the Egloo will function at its maximum capacity, burning for an average duration of five hours and heating up to 215 square feet.
If spending only 10 cents a day on an eco-freindly method of heating your home is interesting to you, check out their Indiegogo campaign for an Egloo of your very own. They retail for $60 each.
