Eataly’s expansion across Manhattan continues, with the beloved Italian marketplace set to open a new outpost on the Upper East Side. On December 10, the brand will debut a 43-seat Eataly Caffè, its newest culinary concept featuring a coffee bar, quick-service offerings, and other grab-and-go options. Located at 1122 Lexington Avenue, the new cafe will be the third of its kind in the five boroughs and Eataly’s fifth location in the city, following the opening of a cafe in Hudson Yards in June.

Eataly Caffè’s Hudson Yards location

Eataly Caffè first debuted in NYC at Rockefeller Center in May. Designed to be “dynamic and accessible,” the concept is intended for high-traffic locations such as malls, city centers, and airports, as 6sqft previously reported.

The coffee menu exclusively features Eataly’s own 100 percent arabica beans, sourced from high-altitude regions in Central America, South America, and Ethiopia and roasted in Italy. Food options include sweet and savory pastries, gelato, and Roman-style pizza alla pala, along with grab-and-go selections like prepared salads and ready-to-eat meals.

Spanning 3,900 square feet, the location will bring an authentic Italian cafe experience to the neighborhood, open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“In the span of a few months, we’ve seen how New Yorkers have come to enthusiastically embrace this new concept, with an incredible response to our first caffè locations at Rockefeller Center and Hudson Yards,” Tommaso Brusò, CEO of Eataly North America, said.

“As Eataly closes out its 15th year in business here in New York City, we look forward to yet another milestone with our opening on the Upper East Side.”

The Upper East Side location marks Eataly’s 20th outpost in North America and joins more than 60 stores worldwide. To celebrate the opening, the cafe will give first-time guests complimentary hot chocolate through December 14.

Eataly first arrived in NYC in 2010 when it opened its flagship store in the Flatiron District, followed by a second Manhattan store near the World Trade Center in 2016. The brand opened its third NYC outpost in Soho in November 2023.

Located in a landmarked building at 200 Lafayette Street, the Soho store features authentic Italian goods, a specialty market with curated Italian and local delicacies, a restaurant, and an all-day cafe. Measuring roughly 20,000 square feet, the restaurant serves as its anchoring experience. The eatery offers a vast menu featuring signature dishes, including handmade fresh pasta, pizza, seafood, and meat dishes, as 6sqft previously reported.
