Rent Designer Erin Fetherston’s Fashionably Furnished Tribeca Loft for $23K/Month

A recent Observer article describing designer Erin Fetherston's Tribeca loft uses adjectives like "dreamy," "delicate," and "airy,"  all of which also describe the ethereal apparel collections she has designed both under her own label and in collaboration with big names like Target and Cosabella. It's fitting that this apartment, with its pale hues and spun-sugar decor, is located in Tribeca's Sugar Warehouse condominium building at 79 Laight Street. Ms. Fetherston has owned the unit since 2007, when she paid $4.33 million for the loft. She has been living with her husband and new baby in Los Angeles, so it's up to another fashionable New Yorker to enjoy the 3,555-square-foot home, furnished with “rare antiques” and “stylish furniture,” including couches from ABC Home and Bergère-style chairs. The three-bedroom loft has graced the pages of Vogue (also featured here on the designer's blog); it's now seeking a new tenant, asking $22,995 a month.

Actress Lake Bell Lists Clinton Hill Townhouse for Double What She Paid

Back in 2013, just a few months before they tied the knot, actress Lake Bell and tattoo artist to the stars Scott Campbell dropped $1.55 million on a quaint Clinton Hill townhouse. Three years and one baby later, they've listed the home at 119 Vanderbilt Avenue for $3 million, double what they previously paid. Located in the Wallabout Historic District, the four-story home was built in 1850 and has been "customized from top to bottom." Bell and Campbell have configured it as a single-family residence--complete with historic details like a wood-burning fireplace, original marble mantles, custom engraved oak floors, panel molding, and antique lighting--but it's a legal two-family duplex.

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo’s $5.5M Soho Loft Finds a Buyer in Less Than Three Months

The 2,800-square-foot Soho loft at 112 Green Street belonging to Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and supermodel Behati Prinsloo has already been sold at its asking price, the Observer reports. 6sqft took a look at the pretty pad belonging to the new-parents-to-be when it was listed at $5.5 million–$1 million more than they bought it for two years ago. The loft, offered complete with its casual-contemporary mix of furniture–is a picture of downtown perfection with unspoiled original details like cast-iron columns, classic loft radiators, exposed brick and 13-foot tin ceilings. The rocker also just listed his 7,100-square-foot Beverly Hills estate for $17.5 million, so we're assuming the head-turning pair are on the hunt for a more family-friendly space.

Trump vs. Clinton: How the Design of Their Merchandise Stacks Up

On the political front, Hillary is racking in donation dollars, while Donald Trump's campaign had a mere $1.3 million to its name as of May 31st. But what about their swag? T-shirts, mugs, bumper stickers, tote bags. Sure, online purchases won't sway either campaign significantly, but it's interesting to look at how the polar-opposite presidential candidates are marketing themselves through merchandise. 6sqft compared the goods from both camps, and found that while Hillary's merchandise is much more colorful, playful, and plentiful, and even features designer collabs, the Donald sticks to his message and caters to a very specific audience.

Matt Lauer Paid $36M for Richard Gere’s Hamptons Estate

Richard Gere has been trying to sell his 6.3-acre North Haven compound since 2013, when it was first listed for $65 million. Last week, reports of a $36.5 million sale came through, and the Post has revealed that Matt Lauer is the buyer. The "Today" news anchor will be getting a waterfront pool and pond, basketball court, 240-foot-long deep-water dock, island-inspired tea house, and a private beach, along with the 12-bedroom main house. Lauer, who's notorious for taking a private helicopter back and forth from the city to the Hamptons, also owns a 40-acre farm in Water Mill (where he recently had some beef with his neighbors) and is selling another Sag Harbor home.

Buy Christie Brinkley’s 21-Acre Hamptons Estate for $30M

Newsday reports that Christie Brinkley is looking to unload her massive, 20-acre Bridgehampton estate for $29.5 million. Known as Tower Hill for its 50-foot turret, the home was built in 1891 and was scooped up by the supermodel in 1998. Her ex-husband, architect Peter Cook, restored the home, but it's been on and off the market with no luck since 2002. It was originally listed for $25 million, but after the couple's split in 2007, Brinkley re-listed it for $30 million. The main gambrel-style house, which was built with "475 tons of local rock," has 11 bedrooms, and there's also an art studio, gym, pool, tennis court, greenhouse conservatory, four-car heated garage, and four-bedroom guesthouse.

Live in Tennessee Williams’ Former East Side Townhouse for $1.85M

This three-bedroom duplex at 151 East 37th Street with three fireplaces, skyline views and exclusive roof rights, listed at $1.849 million, has the added cachet of being in the townhouse where famed playwright Tennessee Williams lived in the 1940s (h/t New York Post) before the debut of "The Glass Menagerie" on Broadway. More historic firepower: The house was built in 1860 by President Martin Van Buren as a home for his daughter. A 1940 postcard from the scribe to his father describes the well-known strategy of living with roommates to defer steep housing costs in NYC: "Settled in lovely new apt., 151 E. 37 St. 3 big rooms and other a roof with skyline & view of river for $18.50 (3 of us) each (per month)..."

Britney Spears’ Former Noho Penthouse Returns As a $24K/Month Rental

Britney Spears' old Noho penthouse at 14 East 4th Street (the Silk Building) is making a go on the market "one more time." The Observer noticed that the 4,400-square-foot apartment, which hit the market for $7.6 million at the beginning of the year, has returned as a $24,000 a month rental. Though the four-floor spread is large and lovely, it's had quite a "toxic" sales history.

Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent Sell Greenwich Village Penthouse for $9.8M

Interior design couple Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent listed their pristine Greenwich Village penthouse in November of last year for $10.5 million. Though they undertook a beautiful update (which was featured as the cover story in last September's issue of Architectural Digest), this was a steep increase, so it's not a total surprise that the selling price came in slightly lower at $9.8 million. According to the Observer, the buyer is "financier-slash-jewelry designer" Charles de Viel Castel.

Donald Trump’s Secret ‘Public’ Gardens Gave Him Extra Height at Trump Tower

In light of his media-circus presidential campaign, there seems to be endless exposes about Donald Trump's past real estate drama. From his failed attempt to own the Empire State Building to a lost battle with China over two bi-coastal skyscrapers, the Donald's development empire has very often skirted the rules. The latest saga dates back to 1979, when, as Crain's uncovers, Trump struck a deal with the city for a zoning variance to build an extra 200,000 square feet, or 20 stories, at Trump Tower. In return, he agreed to create a public atrium, as well as 15,000 square feet of public gardens. But these gardens, which yielded almost all of the 244,000 square feet of office and residential space that Trump still owns in the tower (worth roughly $530 million), are hidden, hard to access, and not maintained.

Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Pictures of $13M Tribeca Penthouse on Her Blog Goop

When 6sqft wrote about Gwyneth Paltrow's $14.25 million Tribeca penthouse, listed in March, the only interior photos available were slightly blurry, outdated versions from the designer Roman and Williams. But now, perhaps in an attempt to unload the 4,400-square-foot loft (she also reduced the price to $12.85 million), Gwyneth herself has published beautiful images of the home on her blog Goop. First spotted by Time, they showcase the space's famous fuzzy nap zones, as well as "artisanal" details like a swing in the living room made of an antique Indian door and a master bed "so enormous that sheets had to be custom-made."

Marilyn Monroe’s Former Sutton Place Penthouse Is on the Market for $6.75M

The sprawling two-bedroom East Side penthouse that was once home to screen icon Marilyn Monroe and third husband Arthur Miller is for sale asking $6.75 million, the New York Post reports. This chic and elegant condo atop 444 East 57th Street, just off Sutton Place, was home to a star-studded list of 20th century residents, topped by the tempestuous Monroe and Miller when the latter was writing "The Misfits" (1961), the last play in which the troubled star would appear. The iconic pad definitely looks the part, with a recent total renovation within, postcard views of the 59th Street Bridge, East River and city skyline, and over 3,000 square feet of soiree-ready outdoor terrace space. Those same terraces have witnessed glittering parties that drew luminaries of the day from Cary Grant to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor; other celebrity residents included fashion designer Bill Blass, singer Bobby Short and Sweden's Princess Madeleine.

Landmarks Approves Roman Abramovich’s $80M UES Makeshift Mansion

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich started assembling his $78 million trio of Upper East Side townhouses at 11-15 East 75th Street back in January of 2015, but it wasn't until this past March that he first released his proposal to combine the townhouses into a giant mansion. The Department of Buildings rejected his initial, $6 million proposal, which called for "an 18,255-square-foot mansion with a six-foot front yard, 30-foot backyard, and pool in the cellar," as 6sqft previously reported. But since the homes are located within the Upper East Side Historic District, it's the Landmarks Preservation Commission who has the final say. The LPC also rejected Abramovich's first proposal in April, but today they reviewed and approved a revised plan from his architect Steven Wang, along with big-name firm Herzog & de Meuron as design consultant. It calls for a modified restoration of the current facades and the removal of the rear yard building elements to be replaced with a garden and new glass facade that unites the three homes.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick Pay $34.5M for Two West Village Townhouses

It looks like Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick have just closed on two West Village townhouses for $34.5 million, according to The Real Deal. It was rumored in February that the actress was combining a pair of brick homes to create her own mega-mansion, working with power-broker Dolly Lenz to make a deal happen. The buy comes just over a year after the couple sold off their Greenwich Village townhouse for a hefty $18.25 million—although at a discount and a loss (they originally paid $18.995 million in 2011, and then asked $20 million) after letting it linger on the market for nearly three years. The two homes snagged the "Sex and The City" star are located at 273 and 275 West 11th Street, which together combine into a 50-foot-wide residence with 13,900 square feet of interior space, plus a massive yard measuring 2,100 square feet.

Bruce Springsteen’s Former NJ Farmhouse and Rehearsal Space Asks $3.2M

As any good New Jerseyan knows, The Boss loves living low-key at the Shore. From his days rocking the Stone Pony (where he'll still make the occasional surprise appearance) to his time living in this little beach bungalow, Bruce Springsteen has never been one to adopt a high-profile lifestyle. This is further evidenced by the suburban house in which he lived during the 1970s and '80s. Yes, it's a bit of a mansion, but it's located in the unassuming community of Holmdel, and when he took up residency there in 1976, he was only paying $700 a month. It was here that he wrote and rehearsed with the E Street Band much of the "Darkness on the Edge of Town" and "The River." After listing previously as a $5,000/month rental, the farmhouse at 7 The Summit is now asking $3.2 million, according to the Asbury Park Press.
