Ex-Fox News chair Roger Ailes tries to sell two Hudson Valley homes at a $1M+ loss

Scandal-plagued Fox News founding father and recent Donald J. Trump advisor Roger Ailes has put two of his Garrison, N.Y. homes on the market at significantly less than their purchase price, Variety reports. You may ask why Ailes has two homes in Garrison; in fact, Ailes owns a “hilltop compound” with over 20 acres and several houses in the quiet Putnam County hamlet.

The septuagenarian media mogul purchased the larger home for $1.2 million in 2007.

The nearly 2,900-square-foot, three-bedroom,mid-century modern home features a three-sided stone fireplace, chef’s kitchen, wraparound deck, kidney-shaped swimming pool, and waterfall. Ailes first put the property on the market in 2014 for $1.47 million, apparently with no takers, as the current asking price is $885,000.

The smaller of the two properties, a two-bedroom contemporary with an adjacent brook on nearly 3.5 wooded acres cost Ailes $1.65 million in 2008.

The home has tumbled from an ask of $1.27 million over two years ago to its current $925,000. At the current prices, the two homes add up to over a million dollar loss. Ailes and his wife Elizabeth also own a grand 9,000-square-foot mansion on the compound along with a neighboring home, in addition to a 3,500-square-foot ranch-style home in Cresskill, N.J.

Ailes was ousted from his role at the news channel in July due to a sexual harassment scandal (he reportedly received a $40 million-plus severance package). He is being sued by Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson, and more women have come forward to accuse him of harassment, though he has denied the accusations.
