A popular outdoor dining spot born as a result of social distancing measures is returning to New York City for a third summer. The Greens on The Rooftop at Pier 17  officially opened this month with three unique social spaces for visitors to enjoy. Located in the South Street Seaport, the rooftop venue now boasts a three-in-one concept with “The Lawns,” “The Restaurant,” and “The Patrón Patio.”

“We are delighted to be bringing back The Greens summer experience for its third season thanks to such a positive response from locals and visitors,” Saul Scherl, President of the New York Tri-State Region, The Howard Hughes Corporation, said.

“We are pleased to introduce a new 3-in-1 concept this year that will provide uniquely different experiences across one of the most incredible rooftops in New York City.”

The Lawns consists of 32, 10-by-10-foot mini lawn plots that can hold up to eight guests and include a sun umbrella, lounge chairs, and a loveseat. Guests can choose from a drink menu that offers single-serve and large-format cocktails in addition to an all-day menu. The Greens offers a Summer Pass for guests who plan to visit multiple times over the season.

The Restaurant is a laid-back eatery and lounge serving American cuisine, with two patios offering guests breathtaking views of Lower Manhattan. Expect a weekend brunch menu and happy-hour specials.

The Patrón Patio is a walk-up bar with lounge seating offering guests signature Patrón Tequila drinks and Mexican-inspired snacks like spring pea guacamole, salsa roja with crunchy tortilla chips, and crudites. Guests can sit back and enjoy their beverages while taking in views of the Brooklyn Bridge.

The Greens will be hosting interactive programming and special events, including a lineup of DJs and live bands and celebrations for holidays like Cinco de Mayo, for which Patron Tequila will be serving signature cocktails, presenting tequila tastings, and hosting special giveaways. For Memorial Day, The Greens will be hosting a party to kick off the summer.

Designed by SHoP Architects, Pier 17 first opened in 2018 with its rooftop space serving as a restaurant and cocktail lounge. In the winter, the rooftop is transformed into an ice-skating rink.

Starting Sunday, May 1, The Greens will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. More information, including reservations, can be found here.
