The Bariseur: A Hybrid Coffee Brewer-Alarm Clock That Wakes You Up with a Fresh Cup of Joe

July 31, 2014

If you dread waking up to the painful buzz of an alarm clock, this new design might be the way make your morning hustle a slower, more delightful experience. Envisioned by British designer Joshua Renouf, The Bariseur is a coffee brewer and an alarm clock all in one. This unique hybrid machine will wake you up with a freshly brewed cup, letting you enjoy a few more minutes in bed.

Rather than starting your day with the irritating noise of an alarm clock, The Bariseur will gently wake you up with the smell of your favorite caffeinated drink—and the unique way of making it! The idea is to prepare all the ingredients needed (coffee, water, sugar, milk) before going to bed, letting the machine do the rest as you sleep.

So how does it work? The machine has a glass recipient with stainless steel ball bearings that boil the water through induction heating. The water is then poured into a filter with ground coffee and into a cup. There is even a small compartment for milk, and a tiny drawer for keeping sugar and coffee.

Although it might look silly at first glance, we love the combination of a retro-looking clock with sleek wood and glass elements.
