In East Quogue, right across from the ocean, this set of beach cottages was built in 1920 and then completely renovated by the current owners in 2018. Today, the compact cottages have contemporary seaside interiors, patios that overlook both the ocean and Quantuck Bay, an outdoor shower, sandy sitting area, and a private walkway to the beach. Plus, the property recently received a permit for a pool in between the homes, which would create the ultimate getaway residence. The entire place is on the market for $5,750,000.

The best places to live year-round in the Hamptons

By Devin Gannon, Wed, February 3, 2021

When the coronavirus pandemic struck New York City last March, many New Yorkers decided to temporarily stick it out at short-term rentals in the Hamptons. As the crisis continued and it became clear COVID was not subsiding any time soon, those tentative renters became buyers, aided by low mortgage rates and the ability to work from home. According to a report from Sotheby’s International Realty, sales activity in the Hamptons in the third quarter of last year saw a significant increase year over year at all price points as many sought more space and access to the outdoors. “It took a pandemic for folks to discover that the Hamptons is so much more than a swanky summer-only home destination,” Holly Hodder, an agent managing East End listings for Sotheby’s International Realty, said. “Thousands of people who have settled here for hundred-plus years as full-time residents know that anyone can find an affordable level.”

His dreams of winning a third Super Bowl may have been squashed yesterday, but at least Eli Manning‘s got a nice new beachfront mansion in the Hamptons to go home to. The Post reports that the Giants Quarterback dropped $8.5 million on a three-story house in Quogue, a secluded village that isn’t a surprising choice for the rather low-key NFL player. The modern home was built in 2004 and has five bedrooms, a fireplace, pool, massive backyard deck, and private beach access.

Piano Pavilion, CWB Architects, Quogue, Hamptons architecture

A former musical director/pianist from Brooklyn Heights and her historian husband contacted Dumbo-based CWB Architects to build an adjacent pavilion at their home in Quogue on Southampton. The result is the wood-clad Piano Pavilion, which echoes the owners’ love for organic architecture, but makes a deliberate nod to its namesake instrument with the contour of its roof. The pavilion was made to function as a piano room and small office, but it also works as a guest room, which is important as the couple’s children and six granddaughters visit almost every weekend.
