Actress Stephanie March, best known for her role in “Law & Order SVU,” and her husband, Daniel Benton, just picked up a penthouse for $34.62 million at the Shephard, a converted condo building in the West Village. As the Wall Street Journal reported, the couple is combining two units at the building at 275 West 10th Street to create a five-bedroom spread spanning 6,836 square feet. The apartment boasts a 3,451 square foot terrace as well as oversized windows, barrel-vaulted ceilings and solid hardwood oak floors.
The Shephard, which contains 38 apartments, was first constructed in the late 1800s as a warehouse and later became a rental building. After buying the building for over $68 million in 2014, developers Naftali Group and Starwood Capital converted the units into condos.
On the upper level of the penthouse, the master bedroom offers sweeping city views, two walk-in closets and an en-suite bathroom. There is also a private 70-foot wide terrace with an outdoor kitchen and plenty of seating areas. The lower level includes two bedrooms, a den and a great room that has a fireplace.
The master bath features hand-crafted mahogany vanities with Lefroy Brooks features, white mosaic fan tile floor walls and Dolomiti white stone slab. Kitchens are outfitted with custom painted and mahogany cabinetry and are equipped with Miele appliances.
According to the listing, the Shephard was “thoughtfully redesigned, re-engineered, and totally renovated to become one of the finest and most special residential buildings in Manhattan.” Residents can enjoy a swath of amenities like a gym, basketball court, golf simulator, paneled library that opens to the landscaped garden and an arcade and ping pong club room.
