Boulon Blanc transforms from coffee table to dining room table in one motion

November 4, 2016

Efficient studio living in any city requires planning and ingenuity, and with a limited amount of square footage, multi-use furniture can help to optimize your available space. Now, thanks to the French furniture brand Boulon Blanc, you can easily and stylishly transform your living room into your dining room with one swift motion. Their clever new table changes height in an instant, and is made from high quality components and materials. Inspiration for the Boulon Blanc table is drawn from aeronautics and precision time pieces, and the team spent over two years developing the table’s sophisticated helicoid mechanisms.

Each table position has its own signature style, and the fluid transformation engineering has been patented by the company. The table is also extremely light in weight, making it easy for one person to transition the table from living to dining room or office on their own.

When creating the table, the designers wanted to make some serious upgrades to the existing X-based mechanism used in other tables, as well as the not so glamorous ironing board. With a team whose professional backgrounds include design, and engineering in aeronautics and the automotive industries, they were certainly up to the task. As a group they set the challenge for themselves, “to elevate furniture design and allow function and technical innovation to be as important as the design.” They wanted to “design a table like no other.”

The result of their efforts is this sleek transforming table where every curve and part was given special attention to ensure a balanced, elegant design. The product is designed and manufactured in France, and is made from premium selected oak harvested from sustainable forests.

The company has recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the development for their production capabilities.
