Iconic Asbury Park music venue The Stone Pony hosting live stream concerts

Since Bruce Springsteen got his start at the Jersey Shore music venue in the ’70s (launching “the house that Springsteen built“), The Stone Pony has been a trailblazer in the music scene. Though the venue hosts big-name acts today, what’s set the Pony apart over the years is its commitment to local artists and up-and-comers. And they’re not letting coronavirus stop this. As reported by the Asbury Park Press, The Stone Pony is hosting “a curated live stream lineup of Jersey Shore musicians and national faves, all regulars at the venue.”
The virtual concerts are being streamed on the Pony’s Facebook page. As APP tells us, “Recent performances include Jeff Kazee from the Asbury Jukes from his “Living Room Lounge” in Queens; Rumours ATL, the Fleetwood Mac tribute; the Beatles-inspired Weeklings; and Neptune star Nicole Atkins.” Tonight’s performance is from much-loved local musician Pat Roddy, who is accepting donations for the Mercy Center to help families in the surrounding community. On Sunday, local musician and former Bon Jovi guitarist Bobby Bandiera will play a special Mother’s Day show to benefit the Asbury Park Music Foundation and the NJ Pandemic Relief Fund. In addition, they are holding a weekly live stream, Mondy Music, hosted by Jarod Clemens of Jarod Clemons and the Late Nights (his father is Clarence Clemons).
Outside of their concert series, The Stone Pony is holding a Hope By Design t-shirt contest. Submissions are being accepted through Friday, May 8th at midnight. From there, the top-10 designs will be displayed on the Pony’s website for the public to vote from May 12th through the 16th. The winning designer will receive $500 and have his or her design brought to life as a real piece of merchandise. Proceeds from sales will all be donated to the NJ Pandemic Relief Fund. The
The Stone Pony has cancelled or postponed all events through the end of May; many in June or July have also been affected.
