How’s that for social distancing? Untapped New York has just announced the relaunch of its in-person tour series, and they’ve got some seriously cool new offerings, including a Victorian Flatbush walking tour and a tour of the Gowanus Canal that takes place via canoe. The team has implemented significant health and safety measures, from reduced capacity to a state-of-the-art radio system that allows for social distancing. In addition to these new tours, Untapped is bringing back many favorites, including “Hidden Gems of Governors Island,” “Remnants of Dutch New Amsterdam,” and “Public Art Tour of Lower Manhattan.”

For the Gowanus Canal Sunset Canoe Tour, Untapped New York has teamed up with The Gowanus Dredgers, who have been working since 1999 to educate and advocate for the care of the Gowanus Canal. They already have a robust event calendar, and the sunset tour is one of their hallmarks. Guests will put on their safety gear and then embark on a narrated voyage, learning about the Canal and taking in the historic sites in this industrial neighborhood. The tour is one-and-a-half hours and tickets are $35.

The Victorian Flatbush Tour uses the architecture of the neighborhood to explore the full history of Brooklyn. Highlights include several small historic districts, mansions, and church grounds dating back to 1654.

Untapped is currently offering free tickets to frontline workers, private tours at 50% off, and 2-for-1 tickets to Insider members. They’ll be adding more tours in the coming weeks and months, so be sure to check out the schedule here >>
