NY1 anchor Pat Kiernan keeps townhouse, sells duplex condo in Williamsburg

November 10, 2016

Popular NY1 news anchor Pat Kiernan made news himself when he and his wife Dawn and their two children moved from an Upper West Side co-op to a four-story townhouse at 135 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg. The Kiernans bought the house for $2.03 million–a neighborhood record for a single-family home–and proceeded to undertake major renovations. Turns out that in 2013 the Kiernans also purchased a two-bedroom, two-bath duplex at 171 North 7th Street for $860,000. The condo must have become one property too many; it was recently sold for $1.095 million (h/t Observer).

The 1,200 square-foot duplex, listed for $1.23 million last November, changed hands for a slightly-lower $1.095 million. Though the condo may not be in an amenity-packed building with a pool on the roof, the garden duplex has the coveted luxury of private outdoor space, plus low taxes and monthly fees.

Though the slender condo is only 11.7 feet wide at it’s widest, its duplex design offers vertical space when it comes to accommodating family, a roommate or guests (provided they walk sideways when moving about).

Though it’s legally a two-bedroom, the apartment offers a large ground-level bonus room that could be used as a third bedroom or a home office or playroom.

The also-narrow yard is accessible from both levels: through the living room upstairs and the bonus room on the lower level. The modern building has A/C and laundry in all units. And, of course, the heart of Williamsburg just outside on Bedford Avenue.

Morning news anchor and noted early-riser Kiernan, known for his segment “In the Papers,” recently authored a children’s book, “Good Morning, City.”
