If you’ve ever traveled abroad, it’s likely that your bathroom was equipped with what would appear to be two toilets. While one is for standard bathroom activity, the other is known as a bidet and functions quite differently. When first encountering the bidet, one might be a bit skeptical about ditching toilet paper for a spray of water, but what many of us don’t realize is that there are multiple benefits to be had for our tushies and the environment. Now, thanks to the folks at Tushy and their modern bidet attachment, you don’t have to live in Europe to take advantage of one of these devices.

There are a few facts about toilet paper that you might not be aware of. First, using toilet paper to clean-up actually spreads bacteria around. Replacing paper with water also helps to prevent hemorrhoids, skid marks, embarrassing smells and UTIs. While using wet wipes will seemingly minimize some of the problems associated with dry paper, they actually dry out the delicate skin on your tushy. Plus, New York City alone spent $18 million on sewage pipe clean-up from wet wipe blockage.

This bidet attachment is a breeze to install as it easily hooks up to your clean water supply and runs sans electricity. The unit is available for both cold and hot water and can also accommodate different levels of pressure depending on your preference.

Tushy is not only concerned with how we poop at home, but they also want to help the whole world improve their bathroom experience. With 40 percent of the world living without proper sanitation or toilets, Tushy is in a partnership with Charity Water to help developing countries move towards a more poop-friendly infrastructure.
