‘The View’ co-host Joy Behar drops $2.4M on a mod Upper West Side condo

November 16, 2017

According to city property records, “The View” co-host Joy Behar just dropped $2.4 million on a contemporary apartment at the Lincoln Square condo 62 West 62nd Street. Not only is the place a block away from both Central Park and Lincoln Center, but it’s just four blocks from the talk show’s ABC filming location on 66th Street. Ironically, it’s also just a few blocks from the Trump International; Behar has been extremely vocal on her disdain for the building’s namesake, even writing an entire Trump-bashing book.

The buy is not surprising, as Behar has long been a fan of the Upper West Side. In 2013, she sold her Astor Court co-op for nearly $2 million, trading it in for a larger unit in the building. She gushed (and joked) to the Times about how much she loved the location at Broadway and 90th Street:

The location has everything I need. There’s a nail salon on the ground floor, which means I can go downstairs in thongs in the middle of a polar vortex. Very important. There’s an Italian restaurant across the street with great food. There’s a Duane Reade across the street where I can get my Lipitor. And Broadway is always busy. I get spooked in quiet neighborhoods. I want a quiet apartment, but I want a loud neighborhood.

She may be moving 20 blocks south, but she’ll still have the hustle and bustle she loves. Plus, she previously told West Side Rag, “I like to be close to my office so I don’t have to schlep.”

The 1,314-square-foot unit has two bedrooms with the option to convert it to a three-bedroom by sectioning off a part of the large L-shaped corner living room. There’s also a private balcony with Central Park views, a windowed kitchen, and three full bathrooms.

This isn’t Behar’s first real estate move as of late. In March 2016, she listed her Hamptons vacation home for $3.8 million. It sold for a slightly reduced price that August, and just a month later she dropped nearly $5 million on a gorgeous property in Sag Harbor.
