Art Nerd New York founder Lori Zimmer shares her top art, design and architecture event picks for 6sqft readers! Times Square is offering up some pretty cool art experiences this week including a late-night 3D movie and vintage telephone booths that have been repurposed to play stories from immigrants to our great city. The High Line is holding a live chess tournament where pieces are swapped out for visitors, and Chesterfield Gallery hosts a group of artists who have swapped paint for textiles. Photographs celebrating the “limitless beauty of blackness” opens at Brilliant Champions, and artist Andrea Fraser gives a free lunchtime talk at SVA. If you’re out in the Hamptons, take some art with your beach time at Market Art + Design, and finally, rumor has it that the Kosciuszko Bridge will finally be imploded.

Ahead Art Nerd founder Lori Zimmer shares her top event picks for 6sqft readers! The work of the wonderful Pipillotti Rist has won over New Yorkers at both the New Museum and in Times Square, and now a new event invites guests to hear from the artist herself as she closes out her much-lauded “Pixel Forest.” Also this week, Albertine at the French Embassy invites guests to their beautiful space for a talk between Frédéric Beigbeder and American novelist Jay McInerney on his new book. Then get into the spirit season and make a wish at Luminaries at Brookfield Place, or hop over to Madison Square Park to wander through the life-sized gingerbread village which went up just this week. Mighty Tanaka Gallery comes back in pop-up group show form, and Brooklyn's Brilliant Champions brings LA artist Michelle Blade to Bushwick.
