Drivers will likely pay $15 to enter certain parts of Manhattan as part of congestion pricing plan

Drivers entering certain parts of Manhattan could be charged a $15 toll as part of New York City's congestion pricing program, the first of its kind in the nation. As first reported by the New York Times, the Traffic Mobility Review Board released a report on Thursday detailing the pricing structure for the tolls for the Central Business District Tolling Program, which covers an area of Manhattan from 60th Street to the Battery. The program aims to alleviate traffic, encourage the use of public transit, and reduce pollution, all while generating $1 billion in annual revenue for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Located at 375 Dean Street, the building, dubbed "Signum," rises 17 stories and contains 143 luxury residences. New Yorkers earning 40, 50, 60, 100, and 130 percent of the area median income, or between $31,543 for a single person and $165,230 for a household of three, can apply for the apartments, priced from $834/month for studios to $2,852/month for two-bedroom units.

Stephen Sondheim’s Turtle Bay townhouse sells for $7M

Late songsmith Stephen Sondheim's Turtle Bay townhouse has sold for the asking price of $7,000,000. As first reported by the Wall Street Journal, the unnamed buyer of 246 East 49th Street lives in New York and is a fan of the Broadway legend. A housing lottery opened this week for 22 middle-income units at a new residential development in Downtown Brooklyn. Located at 131 Concord Street, Amnia offers tenants brand-new residences, luxurious amenities, and a prime spot in the heart of one of Brooklyn's most popular neighborhoods. New Yorkers earning 130 percent of the area median income, or between $100,252 for a single person and $198,250 for a household of five, are eligible to apply for the apartments, priced at $2,924/month for studios, $3,126/month for one-bedrooms, and $3,733/month for two bedrooms.

KISS announces NYC takeover, including limited-edition MetroCards

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is releasing a limited-edition KISS MetroCard in honor of the iconic New York City-native rock band's final shows at Madison Square Garden. To mark the "End of the Road" shows on December 1 and 2, the MTA will load MetroCard machines at two busy Manhattan subway stations with 50,000 limited-edition cards. MetroCards featuring a portrait of the band will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis starting Monday, November 27.

New-York Historical Society expansion will feature new Democracy Wing

New York's oldest museum, the New-York Historical Society Museum and Library, begins construction this month on an 80,000-square-foot renovation and expansion project. As 6sqft previously reported, the $140 million five-story extension at the rear of the museum's Upper West Side location will be designed by architect Robert A.M. Stern. New-York Historical president and CEO Louise Mirrer announced Monday the new addition will feature a Democracy Wing. When construction is completed in 2026–just in time for the nation's 250th anniversary–the new wing will offer educational programs and a home for valuable materials on American democracy.

Developed by Elad Group, the 32-story building at 201 East 74th Street, going by The 74, will be home to 42 two- to five-bedroom apartments. See gingerbread recreations of iconic NYC landmarks

The Museum of the City of New York is hosting its second annual gingerbread competition, Gingerbread NYC: The Great Borough Bake-Off, featuring the work of professional and independent bakers tasked with creating festive displays depicting New York City icons in neighborhoods across the five boroughs. The billionaire hedge fund manager has teamed up with Hard Rock International on the proposed "Metropolitan Park," a sports and entertainment development planned for 50 acres of what is currently parking lots next to the Flushing, Queens baseball stadium. The $8 billion proposal includes a Hard Rock-run entertainment complex with a hotel, live music venue, restaurants, and a casino, 20 acres of public space, a Queens-themed food hall, a renovated transit station, and more.
