‘Monk’ actor Tony Shalhoub drops $4M on classic Upper West Side co-op

November 21, 2016

Emmy Award-winning actor Tony Shalhoub of “Monk” fame, along with wife Brooke Adams, has picked up a $3,995,000 Upper West Side co-op, according to LLNYC. The pre-war pad at 15 West 81st Street boats a 60-foot-wide terrace with “side views” of Central Park and two master suites, as well as historic details like herringbone oak floors, nine-foot beamed ceilings, crown and base moldings, and original Emery Roth-designed doorknobs and hardware.

A large entry gallery, which has three closets including a cedar-lined walk in, leads to the living room, with its decorative fireplace, oversized windows, and French doors that lead to the full-width terrace. Here you’ll find the original slate paving and ironwork railing.

Next to the living room is the oversized dining room/library that leads into the galley kitchen. Though it’s narrow, the kitchen has an additional butler’s pantry, a wet bar, and washer/dryer. It also features the original St. Charles stainless steel and glass cabinetry.

A separate hallway off the entry gallery leads to the bedroom wing’s two corner master suites. Each has a windowed en-suite bath with original ceramic wall tiles and basketweave marble mosaic floors.
