Leonardo DiCaprio loses $2 million on sale of his eco-friendly Greenwich Village apartment

A $2 million real estate loss sounds like quite the hit, but to environmental activist and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, whose net worth is $217 million, it probably won’t make too big of a dent. Back in 2014, he dropped $10 million on a three-bedroom Greenwich Village condo in The Delos, an uber eco-friendly building that boasts vitamin C-infused showers, purified air and water, in-duct aromatherapy, and posture-supporting flooring. He rarely resided there (he owns another environmentally conscious apartment in Battery Park City), but has been renting the apartment for $25,000 a month since March 2015 to Bill Clinton’s economic policy advisor Jonathan Orszag. Now the Observer reports that the apartment has sold to an LLC for $8 million.

The boutique building, where Deepak Chopra also lives, has only six residences, including this third-floor, loft-like unit. It has 11-foot ceilings, an oversized living/dining area with giant, triple-glazed windows, and even more eco-luxe amenities like circadian rhythm lighting and bio-based insulation for optimal sound attenuation.

In the contemporary kitchen you’ll find African Anigre cabinetry, white polished quartzite countertops, a 78-bottle wine fridge, window box herbarium, and a built-in fruit/vegetable juicer.

There are three full baths, one powder room, and three bedrooms. The master suite comes with a large dressing room/walk-in closet and an ensuite bath outfitted with grey onyx, radiant heated limestone floors, custom oak vanities, a reflexology path, and a Jacuzzi Fuzion soaking tub.

Perhaps Leo is looking to find a pad with gal pal Nina Agdal (the tenth Victoria’s Secret model he’s dated), as he also just sold his 1930 Los Angeles ranch.

Kim Kardashian checked out this penthouse at Delos Living's eco-friendly building at 66 East 11th Street back in August when it was listed for $50 million, but we guess she wasn't sold by the handcrafted “floating” metal staircase and beautiful glass atrium ceiling. Or maybe its health-centric amenities, including vitamin C-infused showers, circadian rhythm lighting, posture supporting floors, and a built-in herbarium, were too much for her. Another theory is that she didn't want to share the spotlight with celeb neighbors Leonardo DiCaprio and New Age guru Deepak Chopra. Whatever the case may be, though, she surely missed out, as the 7,693-square-foot Greenwich Village triplex just dropped its price by $10 million, now listed for $39.8 million.

The Price of Parking: There’s More Than One $1 Million Parking Space in Manhattan

Car-owing New Yorkers can probably recite year-round alternative-side parking laws on cue, but most will also tell you how they loathe circling their block for 20 minutes, tracking which days to stay put, the inconvenience of babysitting a spot before the switch, figuring out a cluster of parking signs or, worse yet, arguing with a paid-for parking squatter. It often drives one batty. Yet, there is an option and that’s paying for a monthly but costly sliver of asphalt—hopefully an elevator ride away or at the very least, a quick walk a few doors down. However, the key word here is “paying” and if you live in New York, that slice of space could put you back a pretty penny, especially if you're shoveling out dollars for one in a new development. Unless you’ve been living under a real estate rock, there’s no doubt you’ve read about the $1 million dollar spaces at 42 Crosby Street’s garage in SoHo. Is this lofty price tag for parking a market first? Nope.

Kim Kardashian Eyeing This $50M Eco-Friendly Delos Penthouse with Dramatic Staircase

Mr. and Mrs. Kardashian... Er, we mean Kim and Kanye West may be moving their brood to the East Side of Manhattan. Kim, along with Mamma Jenner and her little sis Kendall, were recently spotted looking at the penthouse at the eco-friendly Delos at 66 East 11th Street—a sprawling 7,693-square-foot unit that features a handcrafted "floating" metal staircase and a beautiful glass atrium ceiling. The unit is currently going for $50 million, not a steal by any means, but surely just a drop in the bucket for the power couple whose combined net worth approaches $200 million. Other famous residents of the Delos include Leonardo DiCaprio, who owns a $10 million two-bedroom unit.
