NYCxDESIGN is an annual celebration that brings together the design, commerce, culture, education, and entertainment communities for a full lineup of programs including exhibitions, installations, trade shows, talks, launches and open studios. Now in its third year, the city-wide festival will take place this year from Friday, May 8th to Tuesday, May 19th. The events calendar will be continually updated, but it’s already full of can’t-miss programming.

One of the larger events is WantedDesign, an exhibition for the international design community, which will take place this year at its original location, the landmark Terminal Stores building on 11th Avenue in West Chelsea, as well as in Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Both sites “will offer a 360-degree experience with innovative installations, memorable products, pop-up stores, interactive experiences, convivial lounges, thought-provoking student workshops, engaging discourse and more.”

Another major player is ICFF, North America’s premier showcase for contemporary design. There will be more than 700 global exhibitors displaying contemporary furniture, seating, carpet and flooring, lighting, outdoor furniture, materials, wall coverings, accessories, textiles, and more. On the visual art side, Frieze New York will offer its fourth art fair experience on Randall’s Island. With a focus on living artists, Frieze will feature over 190 of the world’s leading contemporary galleries, as well as a non-profit program of artist projects.

What’s great about NYCxDESIGN is that there is truly something for everyone, from a graduating student exhibition to the Design Tales program, which engages toddlers and young children in the design process. Other events include the BBC Fine Art and Craft Show; a web session on understanding online marketing, SEO, and Google Analytics; and Feed Me, a design show about nutrition. You can browse all the events here, and be sure to keep checking back as the calendar is updated.
