Manhattan median rent reached new record of $5,295/month in June

Manhattan and Brooklyn rents have reached new highs as the cost of living continues to rise across New York City. A report from the Corcoran Group found that the median rent for market-rate residential buildings in Manhattan reached $5,295 per month at the start of summer, up 3 percent since May and 8 percent year over year. Across the East River, Brooklyn’s median rent for market-rate units reached $4,350 last month, an 8 percent annual increase. The continued surge reflects the city’s limited housing inventory, with Manhattan’s already-tight vacancy rate falling from 1.57 percent in May to 1.49 percent in June.

Corcoran Broker Susan Lamia Sells Off Her Charming West Village Townhouse for $10.75 Million

As the saying goes: If you want something done right, do it yourself. And that's exactly what Corcoran broker Susan Lamia did with her stunning Greek Revival townhouse at 54 Charles Street in the West Village. After just 21 days on the market, the property traded hands for $10.75 million, according to city records filed today. Susan and her husband originally purchased the home for $4.92 million nine years ago, turning a pretty nice profit on the recent sale. Though the buyer has yet to be disclosed, whoever they are, they've sure lucked out with their purchase. The spacious home not only sits along one of Manhattan's most picturesque streets, but also boasts many of the building's original, historic details.

This 4-family town home, located at 36 Schermerhorn Street, is an original 1840s brownstone in one of Brooklyn’s premier locations. There’s no doubt 428 Broome Street #1R is an interesting unit, even for a building constructed in 1879. The Soho loft has all the tell-tale signs of an older reconstruction with exposed brick walls, 16’ ceilings and an open floor plan - one that features 1,765 square feet of open floor space. However, the cast iron Corinthian columns and the honey-comb skylight give the loft an almost medieval vibe. The result is an interesting contrast to Soho’s typical industrial architecture.
