Iconoclastic designer Betsey Johnson has found a buyer for her Upper East Side condo at 30 East 85th Street. The zany fashionista with a passion for pink purchased the 850-square-foot pad at the top of the market in 2008 for $1.85 million and listed it for $2.25 million in May. With no takers, the price was chopped to $1.8M in October, and the home recently went into contract according to the New York Observer.
The one-bedroom, two-bath condo is petite, but pretty as a picture, with a 300-square-foot terrace and partial Central Park views. The Betsey treatment is in evidence in the form of a lipstick-pink living room carpet–and we’d love those Platner chairs and sputnik lamps in any color.
The designer also listed her East Hampton home–where she also held a massive auction-slash-garage sale of over 10,000 items from a personal collection that included some of her own one-of-a-kind designs–for $2 million in 2015. She has reportedly been spending more time on the West Coast where her daughter and grandchildren live.
