José Andrés opened a new cocktail bar on the rooftop of The Ritz-Carlton New York, Nomad last week. Described as a “glittering jewel box,” Nubeluz, (the name is a mash-up of the Spanish words “nube” for cloud and “luz” for light), sits 500 feet above Nomad, becoming a part of the skyline while also boasting 270-degree views of it.

Envisioned by Rafael Viñoly and completed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, the 50th-floor cocktail bar offers romantic jewel-toned interiors and two outdoor terraces. Inspired by the surrounding cityscape, the design is a nod to “New York’s glamorous past,” with mirrored details, shimmering textiles, and onyx bar tops, according to a press release.

“When we first envisioned this property with Rafael Viñoly we knew that the views would be spectacular and we needed to create an equally striking space inside for guests to be fully immersed in the beauty and glamour of New York at night,” Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos, president of Flag Luxury Group, the developer behind The Ritz-Carlton New York, Nomad.

There are two outdoor terraces outfitted with tables and seating on either end of the bar, allowing for distinct perspectives.

“Nubeluz draws energy and inspiration from the great city of New York, which completely surrounds you here 500 feet in the air,” Andrés said in a press release.

Miguel Lancha, ThinkFoodGroup’s cocktail innovator, is leading the drink program for Nubeluz. The menu, with items priced between $16 and $24, includes an interpretation of classic cocktails, the bar’s signature drinks, wine and spirits, and spirit-free libations.

Bar bites include oysters, grilled cheese, a bagel and lox with cream cheese, caviar service, “sweet cones,” and more. See the full menu here.

In July, Andrés opened Zaytinya, a restaurant and hotel in-room dining option at The Ritz-Carlton New York, Nomad. The street-level restaurant offers a mezze menu inspired by Turkish, Greek, and Lebanese cuisines “with a mod-meets Mediterranean interior design” courtesy of Rockwell Group.

The Ritz-Carlton New York, Nomad rises 50 stories and includes 250 guestrooms and 19 suites. The unique architecture of the building allows for stunning views of Manhattan, with all rooms facing north.

Additional dining options at the hotel include the Bazaar by José Andrés, a “high-end avant-garde dining destination,” as a previous press release describes, and the Lobby Lounge and Bar, which will serve both coffee and pastries as well as nightcaps.

Nubeluz is open Sunday through Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Thursday through Saturday until 1 a.m. Reservations are required. Make one here.
