Pumpkin picking and fall festivities return to Governors Island

Governors Island is welcoming back visitors for its annual Pumpkin Point fall festival. Hosted in Nolan Park, guests are invited to come and pick their pumpkins for free with a suggested donation. The event also includes a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, pumpkin painting, and more. Pumpkin Point will take place on the weekends of October 22- 23 and October 29- 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Fall is the per­fect time to come explore Gov­er­nors Island – from beau­ti­ful fall foliage to a free pump­kin patch to excit­ing pro­gram­ming, there is some­thing for every­one,” Clare Newman, pres­i­dent and CEO of the Trust for Gov­er­nors Island, said. ​”We invite all New York­ers to hop on the fer­ry and take in the chang­ing seasons!”

Octo­ber 22

  • Pump­kin pick­ing — 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Arts & crafts — 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Pump­kin Paint­ing — 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.
  • Sto­ry­telling with Ris­ing Sun Per­for­mance Com­pa­ny — 11 a.m. & 2 p.m.

Octo­ber 23

  • Pump­kin pick­ing — 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Arts & crafts — 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Pump­kin Paint­ing — 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Mag­ic shows from Brook­lyn Mag­ic Shop — 1 p.m. & 3 p.m.
  • The Gar­den, pre­sent­ed by Fly­ing Leap Pro­duc­tions &
  • Beam Cen­ter — 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., & 2 p.m.

Octo­ber 29

  • Pump­kin pick­ing — 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Drag Sto­ry Hour — 11:30 a.m.
  • Trick or Treat­ing — 1 p.m.

The Island’s food vendors, including Threes Brewing, will offer fall-themed food and drink on both weekends of the event.

Pumpkins left over from the event will be donated to New York City organizations fighting food insecurity or will be composted on Governors Island. Pumpkin Point is co-presented by the Trust for Governors Island and the Friends of Governors Island.
