A newly constructed Bed-Stuy rental launched a lottery this week for 20 affordable studios. Located at 500 Gates Avenue, the five-story, 68-unit apartment building sits on the corner of budding Thompkins Avenue, a block home to nearby favorites like Bed-Vyne Brew and Peaches Hot House. Qualifying New Yorkers earning 60 percent of the area median income can apply for the $666/month studio apartments.
The building is conveniently situated between the A and C trains as well as the G. Amenities offered include a 24-hour attended lobby, on-site resident manager, backyard, community room and on-site laundry. And Herbert Von King Park, one of the first parks in the borough, is just a few blocks away.
Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable units at 500 Gates Avenue until October 10, 2018. Complete details on how to apply are available here (pdf). Fifty percent of units are set aside for residents of Manhattan Community Board 3. Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
