Taylor Swift’s former Greenwich Village home has hit the market for $17,995,000. The pop-star rented the 5,500-square-foot, five-story home at 23 Cornelia Street in 2016. The former carriage house served as an inspiration for her 2019 song “Cornelia Street,” which references the home’s windows and creaky floors. The four-bedroom, five-bathroom house stands out for its drive-right-in garage, 30-foot indoor pool, rooftop terrace, and prime location in the heart of the Village. The townhouse is also available as a $45,000/month rental.

Built in 1870 as a carriage house, the home was purchased in 2005 for $5.3 million by Soho House executive David Aldea, who made it into a luxury dwelling with its own garage, indoor pool, and a rooftop terrace with views of the city. The 21-foot-wide house boasts double-height ceilings, hardwood floors throughout, and three gas fireplaces.

Swift lived in the house for a few months in 2016 while her $18 million Tribeca apartment was being renovated. The home was asking for $39,500/month at the time. As Vulture reported, fans of Swift have flocked to the home earlier this spring after her breakup with Joe Alwyn. The song “Cornelia Street” is thought to describe the early days of the couple’s relationship.

The entrance to the home is through one of two side doors or a drive-right-in garage that leads into the ground floor’s guest suite.

The second floor is centered around a grand living room with high-beamed ceilings, leaded glass windows, blonde wood floors, and a wood-burning fireplace with a marble hearth.

Located on this floor is an open kitchen, featuring state-of-the-art appliances, a wine fridge, a dishwasher, and a granite countertop that extends out into a dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows.

The third floor includes two separate bedroom suites, each having its own private terrace. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite bath, a walk-in closet, custom floor-to-ceiling windows, and French doors that open onto a terrace with views of Cornelia Street below.

Just down the hall, an expansive primary bedroom features high ceilings, a walk-in closet, and a marble bath with a glass-enclosed shower and skylight.

The indoor pool is situated on the home’s lower level, housed beneath soaring 27-foot ceilings and measuring roughly 30 feet by 15 feet and 5.5 feet deep.

On the rooftop, a terrace with its own outdoor lounge and a fireplace allows for stunning views of surrounding Downtown Manhattan.

The identity of the property’s landlord is currently unclear, but there have been indications based on its most recent deed that it may be someone abroad, according to Crain’s New York. The deed lists the current owner as a shell company, known as Cornelia US Holdings Corp.

In November 2022, the house hit the rental market for $45,000/month. At the time, the home was being rented by luxury Italian furniture company Zanotta, who had been using it as a “corporate house” consisting of a showroom and a networking space. The home is still available as a rental.
