Leasing has launched at one of the few new rental buildings on the Upper East Side. The Langdon, a 24-story tower at 288 East 88th Street in Yorkville, has 45 two- to five-bedroom apartments with rents ranging from $12,400 to $45,000 per month, as first reported by the New York Post. Developed by Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and designed by Hill West Architects, the project aims to fill what the developer describes as a shortage of spacious, high-quality rental apartments on the Upper East Side, amid a Manhattan rental vacancy rate of just 1.49 percent.

Just in time for those trillion-dollar IPOs, a unique trophy penthouse will be up for auction this summer. Set into the iconic golden cupola atop the Sohmer Piano Building at 170 Fifth Avenue, adjacent to the Flatiron Building, this renovated penthouse condo has pride of place on the New York City skyline. The commanding sky palace, spanning over 5,000 square feet on two floors with a private roof deck, is asking $14.9 million. In an upcoming auction, bids are expected to start between $6 million and $9 million.

Steven Van Zandt’s Village penthouse in a converted church asks $15M
Steven "Little Steven" Van Zandt, musician and longtime guitarist in Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band (also known for his role as Silvio Dante in "The Sopranos"), is selling his penthouse condo in a converted Romanesque Revival church at 135 West 4th Street. Van Zandt and his wife, Maureen, who is also an actor, bought the property for $6 million in 2008. Asking $15 million, the duplex penthouse is, as the listing calls it, "unapologetically bold," with its unique architectural framework and interiors befitting a consigliere.

What does downsizing look like for a Russian billionaire? According to the New York Post, it includes finding a buyer for this pair of penthouses under the iconic eaves of the Plaza Hotel at 1 Central Park South. A falling-out with Vladimir Putin (generally bad for business) and the loss of his stake in a Moscow Airport have resulted in a property sell-off for real estate mogul Valery Kogan, reportedly including this $45 million pairing of impossibly huge condos overlooking Central Park.

You'd think a 9,000-square-foot, three-story penthouse would be too big to hide, but this mega-trophy property has the unique distinction of being tucked beneath the iconic copper mansard rooftop of Hampshire House at 150 Central Park South. It must have been pretty well hidden, because a 2020 auction of the pricy co-op property at $40 million appears to have had no takers, as 6sqft previously reported. Now asking $18.75 million, the currently unbuilt residential space heads to auction once again, starting June 30. The Park Avenue penthouse owned by Maurice Tempelsman, Jackie Kennedy Onassis's longtime companion, is now on the market. Tempelsman, who died last summer at the age of 95, bought the top-floor co-op at 1155 Park Avenue in Carnegie Hill for $3.3 million in 1999, as the New York Times reported. Now asking $5.5 million, the two-bedroom pre-war apartment is surrounded by an enormous, landscaped terrace, providing a serene rooftop garden with views of Manhattan and Central Park.

Gracie Abrams has purchased another unit at Greenwich Village’s 1 Fifth Avenue co-op, a year after buying a $5.5 million penthouse in the building, with plans to combine the two. The pop star paid $4.5 million for the 18th-floor penthouse, which was once two separate units and now includes one bedroom, two bathrooms, and two terraces. If combined with the other unit, Abrams' residence in the building could span five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and five terraces, according to The Real Deal.

A full-floor penthouse at Dumbo's tallest tower officially closed this week, setting a new record for the borough. Penthouse B at Olympia, a 33-story condo at 30 Front Street, sold for $16.25 million, becoming the highest price-per-square-foot ($3,297) deal ever for a Brooklyn sponsor condo. The home might look familiar; the condo was featured in Spike Lee's 2025 movie "Highest 2 Lowest" as Denzel Washington's fictional apartment.

Seagram heir’s Soho penthouse rents for $120K a month, a neighborhood record
Seagram liquor heir Eli Bronfman will be collecting $120,000 a month for his penthouse pad at 20 Greene Street while searching for a buyer, according to The Real Deal. The massive loft occupies the top three floors of the classic cast-iron building, topped by a dazzling rooftop terrace. Bronfman put the four-bedroom condo on the market last year for $45 million. Its current ask is $35,950,000, but its six-figure rental price may make it hard to part with–and may be Soho's highest ever.

Another penthouse at Williamsburg's One Domino Square condominium looks like it may again surpass area sales records: Penthouse 3A just entered contract for $7 million. If the unit closes at that price, it will be the area's top sale per square foot (a whopping $3,313). Another penthouse in the tallest residential tower on the Williamsburg waterfront sold for $7.7 million last year, as 6sqft reports, setting an area sponsor unit sale record.
