This sprawling English Manor-style estate in Greenwich, Connecticut was built in 1928 by Paul Starrett, one of the main developers behind the Empire State Building and the Plaza. Set on nearly three acres, the seven-bedroom home has grand interiors, romantic landscaping, and a gorgeous pool. It’s just hit the market for $8,295,000.

As head of real estate development and construction firm Starrett Corporation, Paul Starrett was responsible for the Empire State Building, the Plaza, the Biltmore Hotel, the Flatiron Building, and the Lincoln Memorial in D.C. After the majority of his major projects had been completed, he built himself this grand country estate in Connecticut. Listing agent Julie Church of Houlihan Lawrence told the Robb Report, “Many of the walls are two feet thick, and heavily reinforced with steel, just like the Empire State. It’s more like a fortress.”

As the listing states, the interior “showcases original architectural details blended with outstanding modern amenities,” which includes “luxurious formal rooms ideal for entertaining.”

In addition to several seating areas, a wood-paneled library features cozy built-in shelving and another fireplace.

The kitchen mixes traditional and modern elements and has tons of cabinet and counter space. There’s an island large enough for three or four stools and an adjacent breakfast room.

An oversized sunroom opens onto the veranda.

The stone terrace comes complete with a fireplace and grill and steps down to another large terrace.

Another set of steps leads onto the full backyard, where a wall of shrubs flanks the pool. A lovely stone pathway leads to the pool house.

The seven bedrooms are spread across the second and third floors.

The master suite has its own balcony, along with an incredible spa bath and dressing rooms.

There’s a home gym on the third floor and a wine cellar.
