Uber’s co-founder Travis Kalanick picks up $36M Soho penthouse with heated rooftop pool

Travis Kalanick, the co-founder of Uber who was forced to resign last year after failing to report sexual harassment allegations at the company, has purchased a Soho penthouse for $36.4 million. According to the Wall Street Journal, Kalanick now owns a full-floor duplex penthouse at 565 Broome Street, a 30-story tower, still under construction, designed by Renzo Piano. The sprawling 6,655-square-foot home features four bedrooms, three terraces, and a private rooftop with a heated pool. It was first listed in April for $40.5 million.

Upper East Side townhouse once home to Michael Jackson and Marc Chagall sells for $32M

The six-story Beaux-Arts mansion at 4 East 74th Street on the Upper East Side has been home to several prominent occupants throughout history from President Grover Cleveland’s law partner to artist Marc Chagall; Michael Jackson rented the house the '90s, and it served as the exterior of Nate Archibald’s residence in “Gossip Girl.” According to The New York Times and property records, the 16-room mansion sold in October for nearly $32 million.

After five years, supermodel Adriana Lima sells Midtown West condo at a not-pretty discount

Sure, she sold her former Midtown West condo at nearly 50 percent off, but considering she's Victoria's Secret's longest-running and "most valuable" Angel, we're guessing Adriana Lima will be just fine to take the blow. The Brazilian supermodel bought the three-bedroom apartment at 146 West 57th Street in 2003 for $1,995,000. Six years later, she married NBA player Marko Jarić, and after the couple had two children, they put the 42nd-floor pad on the market for $5.5 million in 2013. But after five years, a 2016 divorce, and four price chops, the pad has finally sold, reports the Post, for the much-discounted price of $3.3 million.

Justin Timberlake will take a loss on former Soho penthouse, chopped to $6.35M

Justin Timberlake is really trying to say "bye, bye, bye" to his Soho penthouse. He and wife Jessica Biel dropped $20 million on a flashy new penthouse at celeb-hotspot 443 Greenwich in March 2017, so a year later, they put their previous Soho penthouse on the market for $8 million. They bought the home at Soho Mews for just over $6.5 million in 2010, but in the eight months since they've listed it, the price has dropped four times. The Daily Mail spotted the most recent price chop, which brings the ask down to $6.35 million, meaning the power couple would take a loss on the sale.

Actress Patricia Clarkson lists Greenwich Village loft for $2.5M

Emmy Award-winning actress Patricia Clarkson has just put her Greenwich Village loft on the market for $2.5 million. The "Six Feet Under" and "Sharp Objects" star bought the lovely two-bedroom spread at 30 West 13th Street for $1,555,000 in 2007. In a 2015 interview, Clarkson said, "Most of my friends are writers and I greatly value the written word," so it comes as no surprise that she outfitted the space with incredible, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.

Celebrity couple The Weeknd and Bella Hadid have moved into 443 Greenwich Street, becoming the latest pair of stars to take over the Tribeca building. The famous singer-model duo has picked up a $60,000/month penthouse, which spans three levels and includes over 1,000 square feet of private outdoor space, as the New York Post reported. Due to its emphasis on privacy (it claims to be "paparazzi-proof" and includes an underground parking garage), A-listers like Jake Gyllenhaal, Meg Ryan, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, and Jennifer Lawerence all call the luxury property home.

Billionaire Bill Ackman in contract to buy a $22.5M Upper West Side penthouse

Hedge fund manager/billionaire Bill Ackman is set to buy a 13-room penthouse on the Upper West Side for close to $22.5 million, as first reported by the Wall Street Journal. Available for the first time in 40 years, the four-bedroom home at 6 West 77th Street was formerly owned by the late author, Nancy Friday. Ackman, who in 2015 bought the penthouse at One57 for $91.5 million as a "fun investment," is the founder of Pershing Square Capital Management and has a net worth of over $1 billion.

‘Real Housewife’ Jill Zarin prepares to downsize, lists Upper East Side condo for $3.3M

After her late husband, Bobby Zarin, passed away earlier this year, original "Real Housewives of New York" cast member Jill Zarin has put her Upper East Side condo on the market for $3.3 million, after living there for 18 years. Since her daughter is also out of the house, she told Forbes, "it's time for a change of scenery," which likely be warmer weather since she added, "Since I love tennis, I want to spend more time in a climate that is suited for it." Likely in anticipation of selling, Jill renovated the three-bedroom apartment at 401 East 60th Street less than a year ago, working with designers at Schoeller + Darling on a contemporary makeover.

It's hard to believe actress Mariska Hargitay has been starring as NYPD Lieutenant Olivia Benson on "Law & Order: SVU" for nearly two decades, but when it comes to her living situation, she likes to change things up a bit more. She and her husband, actor Peter Hermann, bought a stunning Upper West Side brownstone for $10.7 million in 2012, and they've now put it on the market for $10.75 million. Hermann told the Wall Street Journal that they've decided to sell because their "family needs have changed," but they'd remain in the neighborhood. The six-story, 6,000+ square-foot home is located at 45 West 84th Street, between Central Park West and Columbus, and is "loaded with color and vibrancy,” according to Hermann, thanks to a collaboration with designer Jeffrey Bilhuber.

Artist Abby Leigh unloads Upper West Side co-op for $4.8M

Abby Leigh may be famous around the world for her contemporary art, but here in NYC, she's becoming just as well known for her big-ticket real estate wheeling-and-dealing. In June of 2014, just three months after her husband, Tony-winning “Man of La Mancha” composer Mitch Leigh, passed away, she bought a $4.8 million Upper West Side artist co-op at 27 West 67th Street. The following year, she both listed her Upper East Side townhouse for $28 million (it sold for $20.4 million in 2016) and bought an $8 million home in one of the turrets of the former New York Cancer Hospital on the Upper West Side. And perhaps now Leigh has decided she only needs one UWS residence, as she's just unloaded the 67th Street residence for $4.8 million according to property records, breaking even on the sale.

Actress Scarlett Johansson has closed on a property in Snedens Landing, a haven near the Palisades known for attracting celebrities. Dubbed the "Ivy House," the Rockland County home at 40 Washington Spring Road sold for $4 million (h/t New York Post). The ivy-clad four-bedroom home was designed by Eric Gugler, an architect tapped in 1933 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to design the Oval Office in the White House. Boasting water views from every room, the stunning home overlooks the Hudson River and has a pool and adjacent cabana house.

Celebrity chef Michael Symon’s Greenwich Village penthouse asks $2.6M

Celebrity chef and former host of the recently canceled daytime show "The Chew," Michael Symon is selling his Greenwich Village penthouse for $2.55 million. The one-bedroom apartment is located in a pre-war co-op building at 40 East 10th Street, smack dab in the middle of Washington Square Park and Union Square. Last year, the Food Network star sold his West Village townhouse for just under $5.5 million. The available penthouse, which Symon picked up last fall for $2.4 million, comes with an expansive south facing private terrace, equipped with a retractable awning and an irrigation system, and a second smaller terrace located off the dining room.

Bradley Cooper drops $13.5M on a Greenwich Village townhouse with a garden oasis

Bradley Cooper purchased a $13.5 million Greenwich Village townhouse in May, the Wall Street Journal just reported. The actor, who currently stars in the new movie "A Star is Born," registered the property under the "Cool Trust" to keep the sale hush-hush, city documents reveal. The home at 224 West 10th Street contains six bedrooms, a 1,100-square-foot garden oasis, and plenty of romantic, rustic details. And Bradley seems to be enjoying all the Village has to offer; a source tells us he dined last Friday at Fifty, a new American-South American restaurant on Commerce Street.

72nd Street B, C station outside the Dakota reopens with mosaics by Yoko Ono

The MTA has reopened the 72nd Street B, C station on the Upper West Side after five months of extensive upgrades. In addition to the new digital signs and energy-efficient lighting, the station now features a ceramic mosaic designed by Yoko Ono. Titled "SKY," the design includes six separate mosaics on platforms and mezzanines that show a blue sky with clouds, with hidden messages of hope written throughout. Yoko has lived in the Dakota, the famed co-op building above the subway station, since 1973. Strawberry Fields, the memorial dedicated to her late husband John Lennon in 1985, is located across the street.

Victoria’s Secret model Lindsay Ellingson struts into a $1.4M Williamsburg pad

Victoria’s Secret Angel Lindsay Ellingson hasn't had your average runway trajectory, starting out as a biology major before being discovered on the street and then taken under the wing of John Galliano in Paris. And instead of settling in a swanky new Manhattan building, the 33-year-old and her husband, medical equipment salesman Sean Clayton, have long called Williamsburg home. They've now landed a new pad in the Austin Nichols House, a former bourbon distillery on the waterfront converted to condos by architect Morris Adjmi. According to the Post, the couple paid $1.4 million for the two-bedroom unit, down from its $1,575,000 asking price.

The former Nomad loft of late pop-art artist Roy Lichtenstein is for sale, asking $4.5 million. Lichtenstein, who was a native of New York City, lived at the four-bedroom home at 105 East 29th Street from 1984 to 1988. Located on the eighth floor, the sprawling space measures 3,200 square feet and features four exposures from 19 windows. As 6sqft reported last year, Lichtenstein's son Mitchell listed a home in the Greenwich Village Historic District for $25 million; today it's back on the market for just under $20 million.

Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk is putting her sprawling 3,000-square-foot penthouse in Brooklyn Heights up for sale, Variety reported. Asking $9 million, the four-bedroom apartment at 160 Henry Street spans the full top floor. The private wraparound terrace, with Manhattan and Statue of Liberty views, may be the highlight of the pre-war home. Or it could be the bedroom with the hot-pink walls and ceiling.

Anthony Bourdain’s Upper East Side apartment is asking $3.7M

The Upper East Side home of late chef Anthony Bourdain is for sale for $3.7 million, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. Located at 40 East 94th Street in the Carnegie Hill Tower, the apartment features five bedrooms, a sleek high-end kitchen, and lots of custom built-in storage. Bourdain and his ex-wife Ottavia Busia purchased the condo in late 2014 for $3.35 million, according to city property records.

Roman Abramovich signs over Upper East Side megamansion to ex-wife in $92M transfer

6sqft recently reported that construction had begun on Russia-born billionaire Roman Abramovich's Upper East Side megamansion combo of three existing townhouses on East 75th Street. Plans for the megamansion with a pool, art room, backyard and a glass and bronze curtain wall connecting the three townhouses in the rear, designed by Stephen Wang + Associates, were approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission in November of 2017. The LPC approval came a few months after Abramovich announced a split from arts patron and businesswoman Dasha Zhukova, whom he married in 2008 and with whom he has a son and a daughter. Now, the New York Post reports, Abramovich has transferred ownership of the properties at 9, 11 and 13, along with at least one other Upper East Side address to his ex.

Steven Mnuchin lists swank Park Avenue co-op for $33M

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has just listed the Park Avenue duplex that has been in his family since the 1960s for $32.5 million, the New York Post reports. Mnuchin bought the 12-room, 6,500 square-foot Upper East Side duplex from his aunt for $10.5 million in 2000, so even if the co-op in tony 740 Park Avenue doesn't fetch the ask, he'll pocket a tidy profit. The Rosario Candela-designed building is known for its wealthy residents who have included Rockefellers, Kochs and Bronfmans as well as being Mrs. Onassis' childhood home. The former Goldman Sachs investment banker and Hollywood film producer was based in California before accepting a position with the Trump administration and has never claimed the Park Avenue home as his primary residence.

CNBC anchor Sara Eisen lists renovated, polished-rustic Chelsea loft for $2.6M
